Position: Linux System Administrator
Location: Oakville, Ontario
Reporting to: Chief Technology Officer
Role Type: Full Time
Salary: 70 - 85K / year
Job Description :
My client requires a Lead Systems Administrator to lead
infrastructure management reporting directly to the Chief
Technology Officer and CEO.
Certifications are not required, though Cisco certification (CCNA/CCNP) maybe considered a plus with relevant experience on the Linux platform. The RHCE or equivalent Linux certifications will need to be accompanied by relevant experience. Candidates with experience on other Unix variants such as SunOS/ Solaris and FreeBSD will need to demonstrate knowledge of Linux specific network technologies including firewalls and policy routing.
Required Skills:
5+ year minimum experience as a Linux Systems Administrator/Network Engineer in a reputable organization. University or College Degree in Computer Science or related subject from a reputable Institution Expert knowledge ofthe Apache web server including SSL, mod_rewrite, etc. Expertise in iptables, Linux firewalls and routing including policy routing and QoS DNS with Bind Local monitoring tools such as sysstat, vmstat etc. Networkmonitoring with Nagios Shell scripting with bash Nginx web server (an asset) Mod_perl administration (an asset) Cisco experience (an asset) Perl scripting (an asset) ISP experiencewith Linux is extremely beneficial Good written and spoken English are a must Proactive with excellent communication, documentation and reporting skills Candidate must be willing to work off hours and on some holidays during emergency situations
