From an article on p t - and they accuse mary kay consultants of
making stuff up:
The posters says: I had more than $600 in sales last week! I know. I
had 11 sales in 7 days averaging about $56 retail.
The problem is… I don’t feel like a queen. I mean, I look at the
numbers and I’m not seeing that I’m all that successful. Look at this
breakdown:I figure each order took about an hour to receive, record,
fulfill and ship/deliver – so for 11 hours work, I made about $14 an
hour (bawaaaaaahaaaaaa 11 hours, rotflmbo)
Gross Receipts (excluding tax collected) $619.50
Cost of Goods Sold (excluding tax paid) $358.07 (must have given a
discount) COS actually $309.75
Shipping from MK $8.75 (if you
have an inventory, you have already covered s/h) =$8.75
PCP Gifts 11 x $3.50 $38.50 (gift is only given on orders
over $40 – So lets say 7) =24.50
Delivery Costs (gas/postage) $33.00
( seems high to me but hey… ) =$33.00
Credit Card fees (2.69% + .30/trans) $21.82 (everyone
paid by cc no check or cash?) =15.00
Marketing/ Look Books /week $8.31
( 11 books @ $.35) = $3.85
Profit (Receipts minus Expenses) $150.05 their
figure $224.65 my estimate
And honestly, beyond a shadow of a doubt and including chatting to my
clients, there is no way it would take me more than 2 – 3 hours to
take care of 11 orders. So being generous with all her figures… my
calculations so
$224.65 / 3 = $74.88/ hr
And if it really did take her 11 hours to take care of 11 products
orders, I hope no one ever hires her and pays her by the hour for a
job and not a flat rate and I would agree, she probably should find
another way of earning extra money.lol
what is sad - alot of people will read this and just jump on the
bandwagon without even analyzing it. even if you use her figure and
say split the time allocated for processing them to approx 5...
that would still be $30/hr..
Very entertaining..
