How can you tell if your director is one of the "bad apples?"
Similarly, how can you know for sure if they are running their
business ethically (like mk4me)?

I was contemplating this today, so I just thought I would ask.

I am not sure there is an absolute but when anyone goes for an
interview with any Company, the interviewee has just as much right to
ask questions of the interviewer about the Company or practices,
etc... my wish is that anyone that has had a chance to get a little
education would sit down and ask the interviewer (director or
otherwise) some questions and see how they are answered. If one can
not even get their questions answered to their satisfaction before
joining, I wouldn't expect alot to change after. I would perhaps even
see if I could get a copy of the unit newsletter, and see how many
years the consultants have been with MK, see if consultants are
holding appointments, etc... I would as a prospective consultant
attend a meeting prior to signing an agreement and check out the
dynamics of the group. See if there is training or just rah, rah...
Being a real S/C personality type, I don't care for all the rah-rah of
a high "I" meeting. I like the "meat and potatoes" of the business,
but I also understand that high "I"s can look a little bored at my
meetings because I like teaching. Balance is the key but if the
meeting isn't a good match for the consultant, chances are the
consultant won't flourish. - I think most of us can tell pretty
quickly if a person is sincere or not... so make sure you go with
your gut...

When I hear someone... "I" did this, "I" won this, etc... I do wonder
how others focused they are. Do they ask you questions and listen to
your answers... this are just a few of the thoughts that come to my
mind.

You will know! Pushing of HIGH inventories, all they talk about is
recruiting, they wont share with you what they make on a consistent
basis, MK is their life, a lot of religious undertones. I think the
ONE thing that sticks out in my mind is they dont pay as much
attention to the consistent consultants as much as they do the
superstars.

Obvious fibs that "slip" out, asking you to charge things to your card
to "stretch" for production that is short, discouraging you from
talking about your business decisions with your spouse, use of
"layering" to coerce a potential recruit into signing up after she's
clearly stated she doesn't want to are some things that come to my
mind.

How can you tell if they are ethical? That's easy. It will show in the
words they speak, the things they do, and the way they lead there
unit. An ethical director encourages without coercing, shows sincere
interest in all of her unit, admits to not knowing the answer to
something, and is forthcoming when you have questions.

selling....

I also think if you are honest with your director, whether you want to
do MK full time, part time, as a hobby or as personal use, judge their
reactions. If they aren't supportive, then they are not for you. Not
everyone is ready to dive into their business full time and everyone
also starts their business for their own reasons. I am very honest
with my director and she supports me no matter what I do. I told her
that I could not afford much inventory and she helped me decide what I
needed now, and didn't even push me to do any more than I could. She
not only is my director, but a great friend. Don't forget, you can
always find a new director if it isn't working out. You want to do
what's best for you:)
