to Bakersfield Linux User Group
Though related, I decided to make a new post in hopes that it might start a conversation to revise the group, because to be honest it feels pretty desolate around here.

Not to beat a dead horse guys, plus it's about the time new years resolutions kinda die out.. but anything going on here anymore? Maybe we should go more social/modern with the group and/or work on an actual project dealing with Linux? I have some resources myself: 3D Printers, a server, a decent little shop, a bunch of sensors, computer hardware (Rasberry Pi's, Arduinos, PC equipment, etc), cloud services, and I like to tinker/learn new things. Also, I'm a freelance web developer.

I also have a managed cloud service with unlimited bandwidth, domains, and etc.. if anyone is interested I can spin up a WordPress site, appliance, or something. I'm game for ideas if anyone has one.

Here's a list of auto-installer apps (takes like 5 minutes to setup) I can install on my host/cPanel for anyone interested: https://www.softaculous.com/softaculous/apps

Also, I can create and run custom Python web-apps, run pretty much anything based in PHP, Ruby, NodeJS (or JS), and etcetera. Setup just take a little longer.

So I propose, lets get some ideas rolling and perhaps plan a meetup.

P.S. I'm also planning my own little tinker/lab meetup group thing (I'm thinking of calling it DIYCetra), so it be cool to gauge some interest and/or find like minded people to join/hang out, and whatnot. Hell, I'd like to get a YouTube channel up, I have several projects I'm working on, and a few other things. It might be nice to get some other people involved and/or share projects (as somewhat of a motivation and inspiration thing as well as share resources, knowledge, and excetera). Maybe make friends, and you know all that, lol.

Best,

Micheal

As much as I dislike leaning on social media, perhaps it may be better to start a Bakersfield Linux group on Facebook. You'll have a much farther reach than google newsgroups.  It will be easier to set up events, meets, etc. Personally I'm super busy until April, I'll be able to participate in more stuff.
