Hi Greg and group.
(I sent an email, but only now do I see it did not go through)
Wow. 700 km on a tank would be amazing! Have you change your sprocket
ratio?
There is a short bit, between Greenstone, and London road where I get
to 100km per hour, but find the bike is revving quite high when I get
there. Would not like to ride all the way to PTA at over 6 0000 revs.
Maybe your bike is just better tuned then mine.
Geocaching:
It is a game/sport where one uses billion dollar US military equipment
to find Tupperware in the bush.
(I love that definition)
But basically it comes down to the following:
You get a set of co-ordinates from a web site, and then use a GPS to
go and find a small container with a log book. If you find it you sign
the log book, and then let the web site know, once you are back on the
PC that you have "found" it. We have found just over 800 so far here
in South Africa of the 5,500 available. This is a global game, and
there are currently over a 1,000,000 world wide.
It is amazing the places geocaching has taken us. To the top of
Majuba, to Sentinal View in Cape Town, to PE's Sharkrock Pier, to a
few unknown/out-of-the-way Game Reserves.
So far I have done about 10 geocaches on the bike, and today bought a
GPS holder for my Garmin for on the bike. When the rain stops I will
be finishing of the mounting thereof.
Greg (and others of cource) if you are interested in hunting one or
two geocaches on the bike, one weekend to see what it is like, let me
know... Maybe we can stop off for breakfast somewhere.
