For those who don't yet have the weightmapped version, I have the Poser Place open-source weightmapped V4 (a Python script to add a new WM rig to V4) and the Outfitter Clothing utility to transfer the weight maps to clothing on my Google Drive...
That woman sure has staying power doesn't she. Her wardrobe puts anyone else's to shame and she has many more characters than all the Genesis models put together. The processes for making morphs and clothing for her has been well documented, and she has proven to be a mainstay for us professional graphic artist who make real money at this.
DS 4 doesn't use Posers parametric rigging, as a result all Poser rigged content is dragged through studio's import converter, and turned into general WM rigging, basically everything is converted into a very poor man's version of Genesis 1.
I tried loading the Poser Place V4WM into Studio 4.9, and although it griped a lot on loading about vertex indices in the weight map being out of range, it seems to work rigging-wise, except the ERCs for the ghost actors (buttocks, groin and breast bones) didn't import. However, it doesn't seem to save properly...
Yeah but people have ignored and neglected Michael 4 too, in fact the Male Genesis figures have way more clothing than him and that's what pisses me off more than anything because I get to hardly use M4 it's the same thing with the Kids figures too, they are also neglected just as bad. And definately need more morph options. You can do way more to the Teens and Kid figures in Genesis or so it seems like, That means fitting Genesis 3 clothes on them giving them way more in terms of wardrobe ability. I have a converted that lets me put V4 and M4 clothes on my K4 figures but it sucks horribly bad, it's not always accurate, and the morphs for the clothing disappear soon as you convert them to the K4 figure.
I still think that Smith Micro needs to give us a New Victoria figure. Poser is still lacking behind in features that Genesis 3 figures get, like more ways to make characters look wet and sweaty, more genital options, etc.I can't even find a decent Genital prop for V4 but I have plenty of good ones for M4.
Victoria, all the Victorias are from Daz, not Poser. We are up to Victoria 7 and Michael 7 now. The poser figures are no longer made by Daz, that ended with the debacle around Poser 5. So Posette is the last Daz created female figure to be included with Poser. Victoria has alsways only been available from Daz, from V1 onwards. They are up to Victoria 7 and Michael 7 now.
Hi everyone. One of the first things I ever purchased from Daz was many years ago, I'd say around 2009 or so...? It was a set of clothes for Michael 3 (possibly Michael 2 as well but I cant remember for sure). It's a police or military style uniform called Concord Elite.
Anyhow, recently I found a use for it in some artwork I'm doing and I am missing some of the texture files from my runtime (I use poser 11). I went to look through my purchases throughout the years figuring I'd re-download it and reinstall it. But I can't find it listed among anything I've ever bought from Daz. And it no longer appears in the store anywhere as I suspect it's been retired because it was an older product. I'm not sure why it's not showing in my account as something I purchased. Over the years I've switched computers a few times due to upgrades and hardware issues, but as far as I can remember, my account name and such at Daz has never changed. My e-mail address has changed during that time, for sure. I'm wondering if there's any way I can retrieve this product from the archives? Even though it was an older product for older characters, it was certainly a quality product and I'd love to have it back.
Can't help you get them as sharing of files probably (read that as "definitely would" :) ) goes against Daz policy but the packages haven't been fully withdrawn as they are still present in my library. So Daz should have access to some archive with them. Whether they still have the licence to distribute, I can't say.
Best suggestion is to send in a ticket to Daz Support and they should be able to help you. I've found the store codes for the 4 packages that you can quote.
The Pathfinder package was SKU1215,
V2 and M2 sets required the corresponding bodysuits as they had texture overlays to represent separate clothing. The M3 and V3 sets had a helmet, body armor, boots and belt. No pants though.
As said, they have stood the test of time. Here's G8M wearing a M3 bodysuit with the M3 outfit fitting with thanks to the M3 clone script. Building is the Cyberpunk Building available in the store. Pose and radio is Zeddicus Police pose set for G8.
......
Well, I would post a render but Daz's servers are again reporting 500 errors when trying to upload pictures. So please forgive the trip but here is the render over on DevArt. Image is safe for work but be warned, other images may not be. When Daz finally fix their screwy servers, I'll repost the image here and avoid the connecting flight to another site. Or if a Mod can copy the image over for me, I can delete the image and link.

Hint: It's always worth checking through the legacy products in the store as some are still value for money, even for the latest figures.
...that looks really good, may have to dust off a few of my old favourites. Sadly even G1 and 2F skirts/dresses tend to get an odd triangular distortion in the middle front area that even Fit Control doesn't fix.
I'll definitely look into opening a ticket with Daz support. In the meantime, Pugwash you mentioned looking at legacy products. I'd sure love to take a look, but I'm not sure how.... how does one do that?
Legacy is just the very old Daz products, basically anything that predates G2, so the original Mike and Vicky and all their variants (David, Stephanie, Aiko, Freak etc) all through to Genesis 1. When you search on the store for something, use the filters at the left side of the screen to only select M3, M4, V3, V4 and Genesis figures. That will bring up all the older stuff, most of which can still be converted with RiverArts Software's apps. Or you can use the M3/V3 and M4/V4 clones from Sickleyield (I think) to help autofit them to G3 and G8.
Cool thing about those legacy products is that most of them are often in the sales for pennies or they're in the Daz+ club for a couple of bucks.
As I go through my content and use the Daz site to add some information to the Excel file I set up as an overview, I realized that some content (even G8 related) is available in my Product Library, but there is no link to the product page (View Product Page). Fortunately I copied all this information to a Word File. Nevertheless it shows that old content might be no longer available to be purchased or even be removed from the store.
I still use V4 and M4 content but only on first generation Genesis 1 because they work by default. They are great for filling up the midgrounds and backgrounds for scenes, and some of the clothing are so well built by master modellers, that they still look great. Only need some minor texture tweaking to work in Iray. I generally dont do cross generation conversions.
Personal choice and I respect that. It's certainly not something that works for everyone or with every product. Personally, I don't like to buy something and not feel I've got my moneys worth out of it. So to buy a $15-$20 converter app and extend the life of something that I enjoy using really does work for me, and as an (extremely) amateur 3D artist, justifies the process needed to myself. I'm not selling my art so this meagre expenditure satifies my needs.
For example. I love Syltermermaids V4 textures, not just for themselves but they work well with most of the output jpegs I get from Faceshop 6, especially her Pia set. I like FS6 more so than Abalone's recent versions of Headshop and Daz's Face Transfer so to use those head textures and morphs that I've already created only needs a texture converter for V4-G8 (thank you Blacksmith3D) and D3D's V4-G3 morph converter coupled with RiverArts Software's G3-G8 character converter. Trying to recreate the characters I've already made with the new apps hasn't worked yet and would add too much additional work to make a render worthwhile.
It's whatever you are happy with.
