Yeomalt Turn Point: We all know that the turn point at Yeomalt is not precise without a buoy. However, the more we all try to turn at the same point the more fun this will be.  So here's how it works!
  1. The first or lead boat should make a real effort to turn at the designated spot.
  2. The other boats should follow the lead boat, (unless they are blatantly off the mark.) DO NOT TURN UNDER THE LEAD BOAT OR THE BOAT IN FRONT OF YOU!
The actual turn "mark" is the intersection of two RANGES. The first range (see photo) is lining up the Pilings off and slightly around the point with the LightHouse House along the beach further North. This is the Northwest/South East Range and fairly easy to figure out, especially if you are coming from out in the sound towards Yeomalt Point. You can usually sail this course to the "mark". Coming from along the shore makes it a little more difficult.  But both the pilings and Lighthouse are clearly visible and so this Range is easy enough to follow.  The other way to think of it is that you are no more than 400 yards off shore at the point. Do not turn 1/2 mile east, away from shore!
The other Range is the east-west range that determines how far north you should go before turning back south. This has clearly been confusing as you were not to turn until you could "see up the road." Since the road has a complete canopy of trees now, we need to change it. So this is the new one.  Along the Point is a house with a very large rock bulkhead. It extends all the way to the point. Just south it ends at a very distinct white sand beach.  (see photo) The turn point will be as soon as you go as far north as the South end of the large rock bulkhead. (this is almost the same as looking up the road, but way easier to see!)

It is more important that you go far enough North than find the exact point on the lighthouse range. This is EASY!

So the turn point is: Go north as far NORTH as the south end of the south end of the Big rock Bulkhead on the point (no sooner) and only 400 yards off the point (no more east)
