Hi Everyone

Here is the information regarding the Isaac Awards for Sunday, May 26 at the Mishler Theatre in Altoona.

WHAT ARE THE ISAACS?

Isaac’s Mission – To encourage & support excellence in high school musical theatre in our region through an annual awards event that recognizes student achievement.  The eighth annual Isaac Awards will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2013, 7:00 p.m. at Altoona’s historic Mishler Theatre. Tickets are $17.  Schools from around the region will be up for awards from Best Musical Number to Best Actor or Actress in a Leading Role to Best Ensemble to Best Dance or Dancers.  Plus all schools will be performing a number from their musical!  BAHS will be performing a medley of “There Is Nothing Like A Dame” and “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair.”

TICKETS:

Tickets to the Isaac Awards are $17 for everyone attending (students, parents, family, community members, etc.).  I will be sending out ticket order forms NEXT WEEK from school that people can order tickets through.  You will pay BASD, and then we will write one check to ACT for the tickets.  You must meet the deadlines on the forms that are provided next week in order to secure a ticket.

ATTIRE:

As was noted at the Drama Club meeting yesterday, this is an AWARDS NIGHT.  We will be dressing up.  Guys should be wearing a shirt and tie (suit is optional if you would like to wear one).  Girls – a dress would be appropriate (you may wear a spring dress, prom gown, etc.).  As we discussed, you will see everything from t-shirt and jeans, to prom gown and tuxedo.  While we certainly are not requiring you to wear a prom gown or a tuxedo, you should be dressed up!  Please keep in mind school appropriate attire in regards to fitting and length, etc.  You are representing BAHS and our Theater Department.

We will be IN COSTUME for the production numbers and there will be time to change and then change back into your formal attire.

SCHEDULE:

The schedule for the day will be something like the following (SUBJECT TO CHANGE – VERY TENTATIVE):

Our departure time will depend on what time in the below window our tech rehearsal is scheduled for.

12:00 noon – 4:00 p.m. Tech Rehearsals for distant schools (somewhere in this window – specific time TBD)

4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Mandatory rehearsal for the opening number (only students participating in this number)

6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Mishler Theatre opens

7:00 p.m. The Isaac Awards at Altoona’s historic Mishler Theatre

10:00 p.m. (approx) Reception at The Columns immediately following the awards

11:30 p.m. Reception ends & return to BAS

TRANSPORTATION:

All students will ride the bus down to Altoona.  Any empty seats will be offered to others at a first come, first served basis based on availability.  More information will be provided regarding this later once we know what the number of students are that are attending.

More information will be provided later.  Please stay tuned.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks!
