I skied my gennaker halyard the other day. Any advice on how to get
it rethreaded through the mast?

Thanks,

Greg

Hey Greg,

This happened to me last year (and this year I lost my jib halyard!).
To rethread the halyards I used a "fishing pole".  The kind that you find at Home Depot for fishing wires through walls. To rethread the jib halyard, I used a snake line or fishing line.  It's a metal wire on a spool and again is normally used for threading wires in your house. This worked much better as it's got some flexibility.

It's a bit pricey, but something like this would work.
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?jspStoreDir=hdus&catalogId=10053&productId=100625348&navFlow=3&keyword=snake%2Bwire&langId=-1&searchRedirect=snake+wire&storeId=10051&endecaDataBean=com.homedepot.sa.el.wc.catalog.beans.EndecaDataBean%4059a3ee8c&ddkey=THDStoreFinder

Good luck!

Terry

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the help. I tried a friend's fish tape, but couldn't get
it around the pulley near the mast head. Perhaps with a lighter more
flexible one I would have had more luck. I will keep my eye out for
one in hardware stores from now on. Tonight my wife and I managed to
use a fishing line with some lead sinkers on the end. It was a dicey
proposition, but we did it! Now back to sailing. Happy summer!

Thanks again,

Greg
