Hi group,

Anew pintle top from Fogh and a 1/8th hole plus a stainless split pin
should do the job!

The tops of the pintles are variously hatched or have in-line splines.
My guess is that the older version is the spline and it must have been
giving problems so Laser went with a cross hatch pattern. However, the
cross hatch pattern is what I had and it failed as well. This mod will
get wrapped in plastic electrical tape both for appearance and to stop
it catching on anything, and it should be job done.

Cheers all.

Dave

We have the cross-hatched version as well. So far we've been making due with electrical tape which has stood up surprisingly well but we'll get it machined in the near future. We were thinking of just getting a hole drilled and doing a split ring.

Hi Jeff,

When we drilled the pintle head, the heat produced made the new plastic head separate from the pintle. We reckon there must be some heat used to bond the two bits together at manufacture and we managed to reverse the process! As to pin/ring or split pin, we reasoned that once the head is in the pintle it would never have to be removed again so a split pin was sufficient (and cheaper). Black electrical tape just covers the ugliness.
