Dear Svanur and Eddi,

Yes this was our understanding last evening as we studied this - that the reference is to the Covenant and is basically explaining the sentence that follows "Trú Guðs er til sakir ástar og einingar, gerið hana ekki að átyllu óvináttu eða sundurlyndis.". But we thought it would be good to get the views of others on this too.

Ég sé ekki mikinn merkingarmun á þessum tveimur setningum í Bók sáttmálans.

"Látið ekki leiðir til að viðhalda reglu og skipulagi valda glundroða og tæki til einingar að tilefni ósamlyndis."

og

"Trú Guðs er til sakir ástar og einingar, gerið hana ekki að átyllu óvináttu eða sundurlyndis."

Ég skil þetta þannig að hér sé verið að orða sömu hugsun með tvennum hætti.

Klárlega skýrskotun til Sáttmálans. Guð veit betur og hann hefur grundvallað leiðina. Sáttmálinn krefst þess að menn beigi vilja sinn undir það sem Guð hefur ákvarðað og leyfi sér ekki að láta það verða ástæða ágreinings.

Dear Friends,

While studying the Book of the Covenant with the friends in Hafnarfjörður last evening in Book Eight we came across this statement by Baha'u'lláh. We are trying to understand what HE meant in the first sentence "Látið ekki leiðir til að viðhalda reglu og skipulagi valda glundroða og tæki til einingar að tilefni ósamlyndis"

Here is the full paragraph from the Kitáb-i-Ahd

“Seg: Ó þjónar! Látið ekki leiðir til að viðhalda reglu og skipulagi valda glundroða og tæki til einingar að tilefni ósamlyndis. Það er einlæg von vor að fylgjendur Bahá megi hafa þessi blessuðu orð að leiðarljósi: ‘Seg: allt er frá Guði og heyrir honum.’ Lík og vatn slökkva þessi upphöfnu orð elda haturs og óvildar sem brenna sem glóð í hjörtum og brjóstum manna

Vegna þessara orða einna saman munu stríðandi þjóðir og ættbálkar jarðar öðlast ljós sannrar einingar. Sannlega mælir hann sannleikan og vísar veginn. Hann er hinn alvoldugi, hinn upphafi, hinn náðugi.
