This is what I just wrote to Mehrzad Poostchi on the passing away of his father today in Madras. Please forward this email to all those who knew Mr. Baha'i Poostchi as we are not allowed to do it from here.

Dearest Mehrzad,

I just got a text message from Naim Afshin in India regarding the most distressing news that your dear father passed away today.

For me Mr. Baha'i Poostchi was one of the greatest Baha'is I have ever known; his utter humility, his unconditional love for all; his politeness and courtesies; his humour; his knowledge of the Faith; his soft voice; his determination to serve no matter what the obstacle; his total dedication to teaching the Faith; his conversations always revolving around the activities of the friends; his sharp mind; the respect he showed to one and all - all this and more showed that the Faith ran through his arteries and that his whole being reflected Baha'i ideals.

A lot of the above qualities was shared by your dear mother too whom I believe passed away in this same month some 9 years ago. They both were the essence of hospitality. They always had a plate of hot meal ready for the watchman - daily! They always had some gift for any human being who entered their house including postmen, ayahs, neighbours, etc.

Your father was not only a Baha'i, but his name was also Baha'i and he was born on the 9th day of the King of Festivals. He lived a most fruitful 93 years. God bless him for every minute that he took breath on this earth. His passing will be, as Baha'u'llah has mentioned, the cause of the progress of science as he was a most pure soul.

I wonder if he is one of the 24 elders mentioned in the Writings, the last few names of whom are as yet not disclosed.

He and your mom went to that hot and humid Madras as pioneers in 1976 and lived there until their bones were buried there. Wow! What sacrifice! What courage! What determination! What love for the people of Tamil Nadu! What love for Baha'u'llah!

And let's not forget yourself and your brothers and sisters who have over many years been of constant help to your parents in their old age.

Your father is now conversing with Baha'u'llah and he is praying for you and for all of humanity.
