Hello everyone and good morning. I hope this email finds you well.

First, let me thank you all for making 2017 a fantastic ride. Thanks to all of you, BAH was able to break the $1M total funds raised and we came in at just over $1,060,000!!

We are also excited to announce that the website is now open for registration for the 2018 ride!  As a heads up, due to popular demand\requests, this year's ride will be two (2) weekends after Labor Day, from September 14 - 16, 2018 (prior years have been the weekend after Labor Day).

Please forward on to your friends and spread the word! We will have brochures ready shortly and can send you some for distribution.

Please let us know if you have any questions - we look forward to seeing you out there in September.

Hello everyone and good morning. I hope this email finds you well and staying safe during the current times of unrest and COVID-19.

We are also excited to announce that the website is now open for registration for this year's 2020 ride!  Thanks for your patience in letting us hold off on opening things up. We have been actively monitoring the current COVID-19 situation and feel that it is safe for us to do so.

This year we are moving the ride back to the weekend after Labor Day given some of the surrounding holidays, so it will be from September 11 - 13, 2020. You can find all of the details on our website here --> http://www.battleagainsthunger.org/

As you are all aware, this is especially hard on the organizations that BAH supports, so this year's ride seems to be even more important than past rides.

This year we will still offer our classic 2-day, 200-mile ride and will have the Towpath ride and walk option. We are also announcing some new  1-day routes and a virtual/self-paced option based off of feedback from our survey in May. Here are some highlights, and you can find out more information on our website:

New 1-day courses: We are excited to offer four different options - a 22, 44, 64, and 76-mile - for this year's ride. All follow the same core route and provide for easy out and back options. The main difference this year is we will follow the river out and back. As always, we will have SAG stops at specific points throughout the ride that are clearly marked. You can find more details here (http://www.battleagainsthunger.org/routes.html). Special thanks to Jon Howarth,  Andy Swords, and others who have helped make this a reality.

New virtual/self-paced option: For those riders who are worried about COVID-19, can't make this year's ride, want to ride at their own pace, or simply want to raise money for a local charity if they don't live in the area, this is the ride for you. You will see more details on our website here (http://www.battleagainsthunger.org/registration.html), but in short, we simply ask that you commit to raising $200 and you let us know who it is for.

Please let us know if you have any questions - we look forward to "seeing" you out there in September, either riding with us or on your own.

Regards,

Charlie

Good morning everyone.

After careful consideration for rider safety, we have decided to continue with this year's ride but ONLY as a virtual/self-led event. I put some details below, but in short we will not be providing logistical support for this year's riders or walkers (i.e., the Canal Path)

What this means for you: In simplest terms, it means that you can design and ride your own route (even a few laps around your neighborhood) and ride with others whom you select - family members, co-workers, neighbors...you get the point:). Ride with GPS has a great website that allows you to do this for FREE. For example, I am currently planning a ride with a few people down here in Virginia where we are looking at 150 miles in a day, or maybe a more realistic back-to-back century rides over the weekend.

If you do choose to participate virtually, please register so we can know where to apply your funds raised. It would also be great to see how wide of a coverage area we can accomplish this year. Note there are additional details in the original message below and on our website.

You can also choose to ride the routes that we have mapped out for the 1-day ride, available for download and/or printing on our website here (http://www.battleagainsthunger.org/routes.html). Please note that if you do choose to ride our planned routes, unlike prior years, we will not be providing our traditional Support and Gear (SAG), so please ensure you carry what you need or have your own SAG. We also advise that you check with some restaurants/gas stations along the way to see if they are open should you need to get lunch.

We do encourage and hope you will still participate and, most importantly, fundraise for our charities. In your fundraising email (please let me know if you would like a sample email to send) you can remind the recipients that this is an especially hard year on the charities we sponsor, and to please donate generously. No amount is too small as even $20 can help feed and care for someone for a couple of days.

What about the Walk/Ride on the canal towpath: Due to concerns about proximity, especially during the registration, we will not hold this year's walk and ride. You are still welcome to walk and fundraise. Please contact me if you plan on doing so so we can account for you and the funds.

What about BAH 2021?: At this point we are planning to be back to a normal ride next year. More to follow in the months that lie ahead, mainly based on the path that COVID-19 and our leaders take.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions, and stay safe.

Regards,

Charlie

Good morning everyone. I hope you are staying safe and well.

Just a final reminder that we are two weeks away from our target date for this year's ride. If you haven't yet registered, please do so soon. We have now waived all registration fees, and since this year's ride is all virtual you can ride anytime you want throughout September.

Please let me know if you have any questions, need assistance registering, or would like some help with a fundraising letter.

Regards,

Charlie
