UPDATE ON DSM-5 REFORM
14 DIVISIONS OF APA HAVE SIGNED
BRITISH PSYCHOLOGICAL SOCIETY SIGNS
8500 Mental Health Professionals and 37 Organizations
The British Psychological Society (BPS) (almost 50,000 members) has just endorsed the Division 32 Open Letter to the DSM-5 Task Force. By signing, the BPS joins 36 other mental health organizations (including 14 Divisions of APA) and more than 8,500 individual mental health professionals in requesting changes in
certain portions of the DSM-5, as currently proposed. The reform effort has spread throughout the U.S., Europe, South America, and Australia. (A group in Barcelona has gathered over 5,000 signatures at their own petition website).
REQUEST: Please consider joining this effort as a Division by contacting your Executive Committee and asking them to read the Open Letter and if they agree with it and wish to sign as a Division, to send Dave Elkins (davidn...@hotmail.com) an e-mail confirming this. Your Division name will be added to this very important effort.
If an Executive Committee prefers not to sign as a Division, please send this announcement to all your members so they can sign as individuals, if they choose to do so.
