We are looking to implement barcode scanners in our facility that have Google Store capabilities for keeping track of inventory, but an area of concern is that it will download the desktop version that does not have the barcode scanning option as the mobile app version does. Based on your knowledge and experience would you know if barcode scanners that have the Google Store would download the mobile app version? I have provided two pictures to hopefully give a little insight on what type of scanners I am referring to. I notice some scanners have Play Store capabilities and others have Google Play capabilities as I am sure this will have an effect on which version is downloaded.

The Smartsheet mobile app on Google Play requires Android 8.0 or later as shown in screenshot below. I'm not sure what version of Android your TC20 has. The best way to check compatibility is to open the Play Store on your TC20, search for "Smartsheet," and see if the "Install" button appears. Give it a try and see if it works for you.

I tried to create a column chart with the channel as my column for the chart, but it's not in the drop down list for me to select it. I've included the channel column in my report as you can see above the chart widget tho. Any idea why is that?

The Socket Mobile S820 is a linear barcode & QR Code 1D/2D barcode scanner with Bluetooth wireless technology. Small, thin and easy to use, the scanner is optimized for attaching to mobile devices, enabling one-handed operation. The S820 can scan barcodes printed on labels or displayed on device screens. It reads the most popular 2D/1D barcodes and is perfect for retail point of sale, inventory management, sales order entry, field service, and other mobile business applications.

Approximately the same size as a credit card, measuring less than inch (1.27cm) thick and weighing less than two ounces, the S820 is one of the smallest and lightest quality barcode scanners available in the market today. The S820 slips neatly into your pocket and fits comfortably in the palm of your hand when attached to a smartphone. The S820 is compatible with all applications in previous Socket Mobile scanners without software changes.

Hey there all. I have been setting up the mobile agent app for our helpdesk to be able to scan barcodes and have that bring up the record so that they can perform actions on it. I have set up my own screen like this

When I scan it gets the barcode but when I press submit it doesn't display anything. If I remove the condition or manually put a serial number in the condition it will display the appropriate records.

Hey Paul thanks for the reply. I had to go into studio and pull it up there as the mobile app builder didnt have the option for me to link it. After pulling the applet up in studio one of the mappings was not done even though it was configured in mobile app builder. After configuring it in studio it works like a charm. Here is what it looks like now

Can you check this once? your steps are correct and I tried the same in the studio, it works for me. I think you are trying in app builder to check the right parameter name is used in the screen mapping UI & condition once(also right table)

Portable, wireless, and powerful mobile barcode scanners. Powerful data capture tools for the most popular 1D and 2D barcode formats providing peerless performance and mobility, whatever your needs may be.

Something I have been think about is that it would be really handy to be able to access the mobile phones camera and take a snap shot of a bar code or QR code and that information be sent directly to the database for inventory logging. We currently use mobile tablets on the floor so our production manager carries his tablet and scanner gun as he is inventorying product. It would be nice to be able to just carry the tablet it would also be more piratical on the back-end because right now the scanner information goes to the ControlLogix and I pull from there to the database, I believe it would be better and more efficient to bypass the ControlLogix and go directly to the database.

1) I can pair my newly purchased Socket Mobile 7ci Bluetooth barcode reader to my IPad Air, open my Square App and scan product barcodes without any problem. Each item and its price get added to the transaction.

2) Having turned off Bluetooth on the aforementioned iPad and paired my Bluetooth barcode scanner with my iPhone 6, I scan the same barcodes and nothing happens within the Point of Sale app on the iPhone. The barcode scanner beeps; it reads the barcode, but the product is not added to the transaction. If I open "Notes", a different iPhone app on the same phone, I can scan the barcode as text into that app without any problem.

I've tried scanning the appropriate barcode to reset the scanner to factory default settings and scanning the iOS setup barcode with the scanner. No combination of any of the tips I can find online help me to get valid barcodes/SKU's (they work right with my iPad) scanned into a transaction on my iPhone.

I've successfully paired my Socket Mobile 7ci Barcode Scanner with my iPhone. I can scan a SKU and (assuming the SKU is in my item library), the library seach results are filtered to the item I've just scanned. However, I still have to manually select that item from the search results in order to add it to the sale.

When I scan an item on my iPad, the item is automatically added to the sale. However, when I scan an item while connected to my iPhone, the library search results are filtered to the item I've just scanned, but I still have to manually select the item to add it to the sale.

Thanks for the added information, @Pyroneer. Have you already had a chance to check for software updates on your iPhone? As EJ mentioned, as far as we know, the functionality should be identical. Have you also tried signing out of the app and then back in?

UPDATE: At this point, I strongly suspect that my issue lies in the differences between an iPhone and an iPad, even though each is running the latest version of iOS and the Square POS app says it is installable on both the iPad and the iPhone (no seperate versions for each device). It appears that the Square POS app sets itself up differently for each type of device. After failing to scan product prices into a transaction using the product barcode while runnning a transaction on my iPhone, I just used the same Square-approved Bluetooth barcode scanner with my iPad Mini (I had used my IPad Air 2 prior to this). I paired the scanner to my iPad Mini, opened up the Square POS app and received a notification that the Socket Mobile 7ci bluetooth scanner had been connected to the app. I went on to successfully scan items into a transaction.

It is interesting that in the Square POS app installed on an iPhone there is no mention of a barcode scanner under the Hardware category within the Settings menu. If I go to Menu ->Settings on my iPhone, under the Hardware category, I see "Card Readers" and "Printers". Within my iPad's Square POS app (Menu->Settings) I see "Card Readers", "Square Stand", "Printers", "Cash Drawer" and "Bar Code Scanners"

I have found nothing online that says the Square POS app and the Socket Mobile 7ci bluetooth barcode scanner will not work together on an iPhone. You'd think the iPhone no bluetooth barcode scanner situation, if it is true, would have been made very obvious in the app documentation and how-to videos. Maybe i missed it during my research on compatible bluetooth barcode scanners. I sure wish I could get the devices to play nicely together.

BTW, when I pair the barcode scanner with my iPhone in HID/Keyboard mode, I can open up the "Notes" app on my iPhone and scan the barcode number (as text) into that app. So, the scanner is working with the iPhone just not within the Square POS app on the iPhone.

i am also trying to run my socket mobile scanner 7mi with my iphone. ive gone through all the steps but bottom line is the square app doesnt have scanner available in the hardware list. ive invested a bunch of money and time into this project to hit this deadend. im super frustrated. is this going to get fixed?

@pickupmo Sorry for the frustration. At this time that specific scanner isn't compatible with iPhone, it's only compatible with iPads. If it can be used with iPhones in future we'll let everyone in this thread know.

We participate in multiple farmers markets and festivals and currently do inventory by hand counting. We're considering using square for inventory management but the $60/mo per location fee is a bit steep. We also don't have room for a stand so we'd like to connect the bar code reader to our iphone.

Mobile Computers with built-in barcode scanners have become an integral part of businesses and enterprise infrastructures. In conujunction with your database, ERP, WMS (Warehouse Management System), Inventory application, or just a spreadsheet - mobile barcode scanning and computing makes keeping track of your business more agile and error-free, and, less bulky and overly time-consuming. Without the right help, buying the right mobile device barcode scanners can be a challenge.

At Barcode Arena we carry the equipment in our own stock, meaning we're always immersed in supplying, supporting, and performing maintenance on mobile scanners ourselves, which has molded us into a top of the line solution provider in the industry.
