Step 1: Copy and Paste the link above into your browser. This link
will take you to a test developed by Psychologists at Harvard, the
University of Virginia and the University of Washington, a part of
"Project Implicit." The test is a part of a series of Hidden Bias
Tests — called Implicit Association Tests, or IATs, used to measure
unconscious bias.

Step 2: Complete the Hidden Bias Test, according to the directions.
This should not take more than 15 minutes.

Step 3: Return to this discussion and POST your reaction to the
test.

A) You DO NOT need to post your results.
B) Your reaction post should include 6-12 sentences reacting to your
feelings after taking the test, your feelings about the existence of
the test, or your feelings of anticipation for this upcoming unit.

i don think this test every accurate. it was very long to compleate
which made me feel like i wasent taking my time, i was just trying to
get it over with. some of the questions where hard to understand and
when choosing if things were good or bad, it made me feel like i had
to rush instead of actually taking my time and choosing what i
actually wanted to choose. i got messed up a lot because of being
rushed. this test really didnt tell me anything anout myself and i
dont think this it was worth taking.

I felt that the test was very well developed and that it was fairly
accurate. It was really a simple test if you understood the directions
and read the questions carefully.

The results of this test we very surprising for me. While I was taking
the test I realized what they were trying to do by sorting 'black' and
'white' into categories with 'good' and 'bad' and I can definitely see
how this test works. I would say that this test is very accurate
because it tested a part of the human brain in a new way. I would have
never guessed such an cool test existed and how well its puts to the
test the human brain.
I can anticipate that this unit will be alot about races, and
religious back grounds.

I thought that the test was kind of confusing. The whole part with the
good and bad with the faces seemed un-needed. I kept pushing the wrong
button, trying to complete it as fast as I could, I didn't think of
really what I was looking at. If the instructions told us to go slow,
it would have been much easier to associate the images with the group.
I was pressured by the time. The other questions after that part of
the quiz asked about my political views. I think they limited the
options on those, because the answers I had wasn't on the list, so I
was forced to put an answer I didn't truly feel. Even though the
results were accurate about me, I still dont see how that worked out
If the answer I really had in my head wasnt there.

while the button mashing test was unique to say the least it was not reflective of what i think at all. the survey part was more reflective of what i think. the directions for this part were simpler to understand. the results were somewhat accurate, although they would have been more accurate if there were 2 surveys instead of the "game", but thats just my opinion.

I didn't exactly enjoy doing this test as I felt that the test was
constantly trying to trick and confuse me. An example of this was
when the test switched the sides in which I was to place each word and
picture. Also, due to the time constraints and urgent messages to
rush me, I felt like i didn't read through all of the options i was
given for most of the multiple choice questions. As for the results,
I feel that the bias of a person cannot be determined through a series
of flashed pictures on a computer. There are too many variables such
as whether or not the test taker actually took their time and read all
of their options. This is whats wrong with the world because humans
try to judge other people through technology and feel like they have
the ability to see someones bias' or personality through a few
questions. I feel like these results are most likely inaccurate for
most of the people who took the test. The only way to get to know
somebody is by meeting them in person.

I found this test to be very frustrating. It makes sense how the
results are found by how quickly you react when the opposing words are
categorized as "good" vs. "bad" and how quickly you are able to
choose. I think this test shows some relevance and may be an eye-
opener in some ways to show a person's bias toward differing topics.
However, I don't think it is 100% accurate in describing one's
personal or social preferences based on how quickly their mind is able
to choose between "good" and "bad" words and sort them accordingly. I
think there is a lot of room for error when taking this test; for
example the speed factor is majorly important but can be more or less
difficult as you go on through the test and more difficult for people
of different abilities. Overall, I think this test may be somewhat
accurate and is able to show bias on a very surface level but not much
deeper than that.

I think this test is inaccurate. Not to mention I had to retake it 3 time because during the rapid selection phase the "i" and "e" didn't work. But otherwise, I felt rushed and I found that most of the questions didn't apply to me. I don't have a political standing so i didn't understand what to choose for half of them. Most questions I simply used what I thought was a politically correct way to think of "black vs white". All in all it is a cool idea, but I didn't really like it.

I did not enjoy taking this test. I felt that my results were not
accurate at all considering everything that I answered. I did not
think it was confusing but the way they presented the questions was
very strange. This test also kept telling me to hurry and be as fast
as I could so I was definitely rushing and that caused me to answer
some of the questions wrong. Overall, I do not think this gives an
accurate result on whether a person perfers "light skin" or "dark
skin".

In my opinion, I don't think that this test was very accurate at all.
Also, it was kind of confusing at times. For example when they switch
the "good" and the "bad", with the two faces, of course I was gonna
mess up because I was used to how it was before. Also, how they wanted
you to go as fast as you could was also weird and I didn't get how
they could get the results they could with that test. The results were
not correct about me and it was surprising when I saw it. Although
this test was unique and a cool idea, I did not enjoy taking it very
much.

I didn't enjoy taking this test because I don't think this test was accurate. I don't think it was accurate because I felt very rushed about answering the questions and I felt like they were tricky in a way. Also, I didn't understand some of the questions asking about my political and social view. On the other hand, I thought taking this test was different, I haven't taken a test like this before online especially in school. So I thought it was fun to try and do something different.

I don't think this test was very accurate. I didn't enjoy taking it
and felt like it didn't give me correct results. I feel like all it
did was trick me by switching the sides of the good and bad and light
skinned and dark skinned people. My instincts make me click which ever
side it was on previously. The test also repeatedly reminded me to be
quick which made my fingers freak out every question. I also feel like
that tricked me a little bit. It made me answer some questions wrong
just on accident

I strongly believe that this test it self was not fair. At one point
it had us sort good/white people vs bad/black people. It was a little
wierd the way the questions were asked. I did not like taking the test
just because it was a little wierd answering the questions. I finished
the test just so I could get opinions of it.

I did not enjoy taking this test because it was actually annoying
because it got confusing at some points. Also, the results were not
accurate and they hardly made any sense. It was hard to understand
what exactly was the reason why I was doing this. I tried rushing
through alot of it because it was not what i thought it would be. I
thought it was a fun and different thing to do though I just wish it
was close to being accurate.

personally i didnt like the test. it took way to long to take and it was hard to answer some of the questions. i dont feel like the results were very accurate at all. how can a few questions determine my true bias? i dont think they can. overall i didnt enjoy the test, it was hard to take and answer most of the questions. it was really pointless because the results werent correct and was just a waste of time

The first section of the test I felt wasn't really all too relevant. I
felt it didn't really complete its task of trying to make us associate
good or bad with a skin tone. It simply made us rush through it and
had us trip over ourselves when it switched around the categories. The
second section, though, was spot on for being a bias test. It
challenged our conscience in subtle and precise ways, and required us
to think deeply about each question. If you actually took the time to
think about each question, yes the test would take longer, but you
wouldn't feel as though you rushed through it and that the results
were inaccurate. I myself am not surprised by the results I've
received, and therefore I can say that this test is pretty spot on
with its accuracy. If the creators were to take out the first section,
I wouldn't have a single complaint about it.

This test was very eye opening to me. To see how just a careless mistake of pressing a wrong button can lead to something more. I do not think my score was accurate. Was frustrated me was that the 'good', 'bad', 'light', and 'dark categories switched. That threw me off a lot towards the end. I feel no need to make a difference between people of different skin tones and ethnicity. We are all human beings and all deserve and have equal rights.

The test was... Interesting, I believe the test where they grouped
light and dark skinned people with either good or bad was an effective
way to achieve actual results. I can honestly say I'm not surprised by
my results though, I got what I believed I was going to receive. I
wonder if the questions in the beginning have anything to do with the
test (where they asked if you were a democrat and what-not). Now I'm
going to go the typical way with this response and say I assume we
will be doing something in class that involves race or ethnicities. I
don't know what, but that's my assumption.

This test had no point to it all. It took for ever and the results at the end were completely off. It did have some good questions to think about, but in all it was just confusing and went too fast to think and process about the questions.

I think that this test was bad because i don't think that the outcome was right. I think that someone made this test to just tell everyone that they are in favor of what ever color skin they are, and not by the test. Also i am more responsive with my right hand, and not my left, so that could be another factor in this. So i didn't like this test.
