Publicity Team,

We should think on the lines of doing pre-event write ups for Vibhascope and other websites which will let us post for free.

This is something which we usually forget after the event but is as valuable as pre-event activities .I have heard personal testimonials from Atlanta AC regarding this and said it has helped them in getting potential sponsors and so on.

Thanks for the appreciation Ribhu. Like mentioned already, we had an awesome publicity team that was really committed to making a difference this year. Every single one of them put in a tremendous amount of effort in making this a success. Sajini/Jasneet/Kasturi- my heartfelt thanks for all your publicity efforts that paid off in the end.

Other than the core members of the publicity team, there were a few veterans who were always available and more than willing to help. ASK/AA/Bahi- special thanks to you guys for always helping us whenever we needed it even though you had a thousand other things to deal with. You guys made yourself available whenever we needed you and went out of your way to help us get things done.

Finally- even though Ribhu was technically not part of the core publicity team, he was as valuable a member as anyone else and a great mentor for this new team. He was always there to not only to guide us, but to actually execute publicity tasks himself!! Just like any of us in the publicity team, he would take up tasks and complete it and take up more!!! He would attend all publicity meetings with the team and provide us assistance whenever we hit a wall. It's really hard to list out all his contributions to the team, but his most notable one was designing the new blue Tshirt this year!!! It was really cool and I think we will stick with this design for the next few years.

Lastly but not the least, we had really great teams in place to have made this DM the biggest so far and I certainly look forward to working with you guys the next year!!

Thanks,
Venkat.

Congrats for a great job Ribhu... to you too! You have been a tireless leader to the Dream Mile team (even though there was not a designated event lead).
Congrats to all the leads and volunteers who made the event possible!

I am fairly new to Vibha than many of you - however I can feel the energy and passion shared by the team who committed themselves to having a great event, and made it a big success.

There is a lot to celebrate this year, and also many new lessons to learn.

Looking forward to Dream Mile 2013 now.. :)

Best,
Priyank

Hi All,

Hope I find you all well rested after 6 months of Dream Mile pre event madness and then the finale, which turned out to be the biggest Bay Area Dream Mile ever in terms of participation. Thank you all for your time and efforts. As a fellow volunteer, I feel privileged having you all as company and was inspired by your commitment to the cause of child education and care.

Dream Mile 2012 Highlights (To the best of my knowledge, which is limited to 2009-2012)

·      Dream Mile 2012 was biggest Dream Mile in terms of participation. 1100 Registration, 950 Runners on trails and 80 volunteers.
·      Most revenue from Registration ~25K
·      First time we had colored T-shirts.
·      First one to have Chip timing.
·      First Dream Mile which had Youth Chapter leading a part of Event (Carnival).

It would not have been possible without you all, but there are few who I want to recognize for going above and beyond to make Dream Mile an event to remember. There are a lot of Thank You's, but I will try to restrict and take just enough time from your busy life.

Logistics: Well the MAN needs no introduction. One and only Anand A. I really don’t know how long he has been doing logistics for Dream Mile and saying that he will not do it next year.
But he does it, year after year, and he makes sure we have an event. Only few volunteers can put the cause ahead of their personal life. All the work done for logistics does not get recognized...there are no registration numbers here, no fundraising target to be met, but it takes a lot of time and a huge amount of effort to make sure an event of 1000+ execute smoothly, and Anand A did all the pre event tasks with very little help from anyone. We will definitely need a team to fill in your shoes next year.
Anand A also offered his help to other teams when there were no volunteers to take up a particular task. As he always says “I am doing this, because there is no one else to do it”. For all that you do and have done, Thank you Sir.

Publicity: Have not seen a team working so aggressively towards its goal. Venkat and team did anything and everything they could to make sure we reach 1000 marks. Two days before event I was freaking out thinking “we might reach parking limit…how are we going to handle these many runners…damn should have stopped Venkat and team from doing some of their publicity stunts” Honestly, they were even stopped last minute. Venkat led the team like a true leader. Following up on each and every small thing making sure things do not fall through the crack. They executed as a great team and gave us our first 1000+ registration.
Jasneet I have a question for you. How do you do all the things you do? Running around between work and family, how were you there wherever we needed you? Anand A's suggestions and your efforts added information sessions as part of Dream Mile marketing. Folks I was there at one of the info session booth with Jasneet and believe me everyone who stopped and talked to Jasneet, did register. She alone distributed 5000 flyers to Milpitas Schools and made sure we received marketing from every running event in Bay Area possible.
Sajini become the team’s go to person for all social and email marketing. She was most difficult to restrict when it comes to marketing. At two occasions we had her get ready with publicity email to go out and stopped at the last minute. She took care of all social media and email marketing. Her regular updates on Dream Mile Facebook page made sure we were seen and noticed.
Kasturi Thank you for taking care of all the website publicity and making sure we got permission to distribute flyers at schools. I know you took time out of your busy schedule and made sure we were posted on every single website targeted.
Bahi Thank you for taking time out of your super busy schedule and helping team whenever and wherever it was needed. Venkat will have a better idea on how many publicity opportunities we would have missed if Bahi would not have jumped in and helped us with last minute design changes.

Website Obviously who cannot notice the brand new cool Dream Mile website of which credit goes to one and only Anand SK. This has been long pending, every year we have talked about it, planned about it, but you got it done and you did it in a splendid fashion. I think Sajini gave him a cute name ASK, fits perfect, if you need anything just ASK and it will get done. :) happy Cool really cool. I think we can stick to this website for a while now.

Registration: Now we have 1100 registration but who the hell is going to handle it? 1100 registration, two pre event bib pickup and a flurry of questions and queries. You must be thinking... looks like a daunting task, let’s put a seasoned volunteer who can handle it. Guess what? We had a team of two volunteers who has never done Registration before. Nikhil and Dharmesh picked up registration a month back and executed it perfectly. Those regular registration number updates from Dharmesh kept us informed of all the happenings at the registration front. Nikhil got everything sorted out for Pre event bib pickup, including training his team for DOE. A week after they started on registration, I do not think anyone had any doubts on how well they can execute. You guys rock and I mean it. Thanks Hitesh for your guidance and training registration team, they could not have pulled it through without you. Thanks Karthik Dasu for initial registration setup.

Sponsorship: This is another area where we had a completely new team. Priyank joined us recently bringing a new energy to Dream Mile sponsorship. Team went for a new approach to divide sponsorship in further sub sections and came up with a great sponsorship kit. Limited by the little time they had. Priyank, Hemal, Anjali and Harini worked as a team to get us Zico, Jaano India and Canvas Infotech as sponsors.  I am sure with right time, planning, and execution we can achieve great heights next year and we will look forward to it!

Fundraising: This year has been a year of new volunteers taking up challenging tasks and shining. With guidance form Mukesh, Mansi took on the most critical part of Dream Mile. It is amazing how quickly she got on board with fundraising efforts and made sure our fundraising campaign is on track. Personally I consider this to be the most challenging team to be part of. Kudos to Mansi for taking up the challenge and doing a fabulous job! We will look forward to great things from you, Mansi.

Half Marathon Training: When plans are laid out well and reached to almost perfection, you do not realize that things are happening. And that’s what happened with Half Marathon Training program logistics. Rajesh himself went for almost 80% of the training session, got sign-ups early enough, and made sure trainees had everything they needed for their training runs.

Thanks Ansy and James for keeping the team sane. For having a regular check on how we are doing and helping whenever it’s needed. It would not have been possible without you guys.

Special Thanks to Mukesh, Bahi, Hitesh and Suraj for mentoring the teams on different aspects of Dream Mile Pre-event execution.

Yes, I have missed a lot of volunteers who have worked extremely hard just before and on the D Day. Although, I would love to cover it, but I will do better if I leave that to the man who knows most about it, Captain AA. :) happy

Again, a big THANK YOU to all volunteers for their contribution in making Dream Mile 2012 an event to remember!

If you are ready for Dream Mile 2013!! Register below. We will be starting soon.

Thank You,
Ribhu Pathria
PS: Dream Mile 2012 did not have Event Lead.
