I found some incredible rideshare opportunities on craigslist. One
was going to take me North, as far as Northern Idaho. The other was
going to take me through Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua
all the way to Costa Rica. Both rideshares were free too; the drivers
said they would be paying for gas. So North or South? I decided.
Tomorrow I'm leaving for Costa Rica!

After crossing the border back into the US (crossing at Laredo, TX), I
was able to bike and hitch to San Antonio, stay there a few days, and
then bike and hitch all the way to Phoenix. I've been in Phoenix for
about a week. The temperature has been around 100 degrees most days.

The other night, I was hanging out with my CouchSurfing host, Dawid,
and another guy named Chris who was "surfing" with him. This guy
Chris was a major wannabe. Dressed in all black with a black hat, and
a guitar slung over his back. Troubadour. We went into a Circle K to
get beer, and then I see him put a can of beer in his back pocket. I
called him on it, and he said proudly, "I do it all the time."
Bastard walked out with it.

Later in the car, we got into it. We argued about the ethics of what
he did for hours. It was off and on for probably about 4 hours. His
free-spirited, question-everything attitude was extremely irritating.
And his arguments sucked. It was difficult to argue when he didn't
fully accept the most basic of ethical principles: stealing is wrong.

I've got to put up a post about that night, but it might take a while
because it really got to me. Lots of material. This guy *sucked.*

There are a bunch of new posts though describing my last days in Valle
de Bravo, crossing the border, and hitching to Phoenix.
