Hey all Badasses. New MacBook Air is out. I think I will go mess
around with one at the Apple store if they have it yet on thursday.
It seems that it isn't as good as I was hoping it would be. I would
like a 12 in MacBook Pro, but I don't think that is going to happen.
Also I have noticed that there isn't any activity on the group.

Yeah I was going to resurrect the group's activity before macworld but
i've been busy with college apps and whatnot. What I can tell you is,
that the MacBook Air is freaking awesome. I'm actually at MacWorld
right now as an exhibitor so I got to mess around with one right after
the stevenote, and its incredible. It feels sturdy, its thinner than
you can believe, and it looks so damn good. If anyone has any
questions about it tell me, i'll have plenty of time to test it
tomorrow in moscone south.

I was on IRC for a bit during the keynote..

As for the macbook air, i think the name needs work but that has nothing to do with quality of hardware which i think is pretty damn good. I think its One USB port short of being incredible though. Ide rather not have to walk around with a usb hub (even tho they come so small now it really wouldnt be that hard). I know i could, but its the principle of the matter. Other wise i think its a great ultra portable notebook. Does it replace a 12in PB? I mean i know its much more powerful but do you think it would replace one completely or just be another option?

Time capsule.

Why the hell did they not make it software and instead made it incredibly overpriced hardware. Blah. That makes me sad, i really wanted a time capsule ability in software. I guess it already does exist. Plug an external into your router and share it and setup time machine for it... still.... it should be cheaper!

Im pleased however, with the whole keynote overall.

64GB SSD is love. One USB port and no internal optical drive,
however, is not. I love the concept, but right now it's just that -
there aren't too many practical uses for it. Yes, it's portable, but
to maintain that portability you have to sacrifice an optical drive
AND a user-replaceable battery. And, at $3,100 (for the SSD version),
it just doesn't seem worth it as an everyday device. That aside, it's
damn awesome.

My main problem with it is the fact that you don't have any space.
You can get a 160GB ipod, but a laptop cant have that much? I want a
12 in MBP for portability AND power. Nonetheless, the new macbook is
really cool. If it had firewire and some more standard features, it
would be godlike.
