Hi Mom Friends,
I have become slightly obsessed with car seat safety recently and just got my certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician! CPSTs are typically police officers, fire fighters, EMTs or folks that work at hospitals and some parents! I got into this area of safety when I learned that 90% of children are not riding in a properly installed/secured seat and I realized that I was part of that statistic!

I am looking to get exposure to different seats to build my familiarity with different cars, car seats, scenarios. I have asked some of you for feedback on a potential business that would offer car seat lessons on installation- either a mobile service or stationary. I am far from running my own business offering this service!

While I figure out where I am going professionally with this or not, I would love to be able to help people if they need it. For each child I work with, I will develop an auto safety plan for them- tips and tricks about their seat, what seat they should be in next, winter safety tips, etc. Here are some possible scenarios you might want or need my help:

-Maybe you are adding a 2nd or 3rd child into the mix and need to figure out how to make everyone fit in one row?
-Maybe you are wondering if FFing or RFing is safest for your child or even possible with the seat you have? (Kids are safest riding RFing until they outgrown the RFing maximums on their seat or at least until 2 years old)
-You're frustrated with your car seat and can't get a great install?
-Or maybe you just want someone to check it over and make sure the seat was installed correctly?
-Or anything else related to child restraint safety!

If you are interested in some volunteer help, please let me know. I will research your car/year and your car seat or seats, and come prepared to answer any and all questions and make sure every seat is installed correctly. I will develop a safety plan for your child so you have all the need to know info in one place and is easily accessible.

Please feel free to forward this to friends or family that may want help as well.

Thanks,
Kristin
