Hi Ladies!

This week has been a big week of changes for us. Dara started walking last Wed (big news! is she the last one??) and i believe she has started transitioning in to one nap a day. While she has never been a big napper, I was hoping the afternoon nap would last longer than the 45 min naps we typically have gotten. But unfortunately no luck...

She'll nap longer only if nursed after 45 min. The past couple of days she has taken a second PM nap that I am not sure what to do with. She is now going down for 45 min between 11:45 and noon and the dozes off again at 5:30 (she's now been asleep for 40 min and counting). Bed time had been between 7 and 7:30.

Anyone have advice out there on transitioning? She obviously needs more rest than the 45 min if she's falling asleep again at 5:30. All thoughts welcome!

As for mornings, she's consistently still waking at about 5. Ill then take her into bed with me to nurse and we'll sleep til 7/7:30. Will likely be doing more sleep training soon.

Thanks in advance--hope you all are well!
Shirah

Hi!  No advice here- Luke is a terrible sleeper & I'm working on it but no words of wisdom. Just wanted to say yay, Dara!  Walking is a game changer!

I can't recommend an Isis sleep consult enough. We just did another one, I'm a total junkie. I wanted to prep for the transition to one nap with a plan. Isis should pay me for the pr, but since we did our first sleep consult at 4.5 months his sleep has astounded us, and for the first 4.5 months it was a total shit show for us. I was jealous if everyone in my GB class.
If you do the consult and regret it, I take full responsibility!

Congrats on the walking! Ben is far from walking so Dara is not the last one! I did a followup Isis consult on the naps and I can't remember exactly but I think you leave them in the crib for increments of time. I don't know what I did with my notes...does Dara wake up screaming or happy and chatting? I would say she may need to go to bed earlier? Ben will take a cat nap on the way from daycare to home sometimes but usually not. Daycare naps from 12-1:30 everyday.

That's great that Dara is walking! I think it is so much more fun to have them moving around on their own!

We are contemplating this transition too. Charlotte often naps only once a day when she goes to day care. She comes home at 3 and I try to put her down again at 4ish, but she often just sits in her bed and babbles. Sometimes she sleeps, but it is hit or miss. When she is home all day she naps for about 1.5-2 hours twice a day. WE moved her bedtime up by 15-20 minutes on the days that she only naps once and that seems to help. She just starts to fall apart with only one nap. I think the earlier bedtime can make a big difference! I don't think I'm being very helpful here, just commiserating.

I'm in awe that you are still nursing! I stopped about 2 months ago. Some of my old shirts even fit me again!

Good luck, let us know how it goes. Let me know if you do a sleep consult. Curious about that.

Go Dara! Eleanor walks on her knees. It's so funny to watch. For whatever reason, she stands then will drop to her knees to get around. I already took her to a orthopedic doctor because her left foot slightly turns in. He wasn't concerned. Hopefully she will be fully walking by the next party!

As far as sleep, Eleanor is still taking two naps a day. I would try to not nurse her at 5. When I stopped nursing Eleanor in the middle of night, she stopped waking up. Since she goes back to sleep until 7, she obviously is still tired. Campbell takes one nap some days. if she has already taken a morning nap and won't  go down between 1-3:30, Marie won't let her take a nap past then. She will put her down at 6. She will sleep until 5:45.

I would love to have a play date some day in the near future. I know Fridays seem to be the best days. Let me know if anyone wants to come to Pembroke :-)

Hey gals!
Mister Riggin is officially on the move and ready to start running. Most days he only takes one nap because he's at school and there is so much stimulation. When we moved to Dallas I tried to keep him on the same daycare schedule so this is what I do:
- he has to stay in bed at least 11.5-12 hours (730-7/7:30)
- if he wakes up at 545 ill change him and put him back down and then he'll usually go until 8
- he eats breakfast immediately at wakeup
- eats a snack around 10
- play all morning until around 1130 which is when I clean him up and we eat lunch (if we happen to be running errands he will sometimes fall asleep around 10ish bc he's not being stimulated)
- put him down at noon and will sleep until 130/2
- snack around 230
-snack (very small) around 430/5
- dinner 630
- bath 7
- bed 730

I remember someone telling me the only need 12-14 hours of sleep so I would aim for somewhere in there.

Good luck and congratulations on the walking! It is such a huge milestone!

Miss you all!!!
Tiffany

Miller takes one nap every 3 days.... If he wakes before 7:30 (6:30/6:45) he needs an early nap.... If he wakes at 7:30 or later he doesn't nap until 1pm.

If its a 2 nap day, no more than 2.5 hrs of nap. If its a 1 nap day he naps for 3 hrs.

I know this sounds horrible but I would leave Dara in her crib after she wakes for 60 minutes. Let her cry. She is probably used to you getting her at 45 min. We had to do that with miller. We knew he needed more sleep. The first time he cried for 50 minutes. Then 30, then 20 etc.

Miller slept for the first time past 5:30 without milk. I would stop nursing her at 5 and give her a sippy cup then or not feed her.

Miller is running and playing hide and seek. It's so fun.
