Does anyone have a recommendation for a pediatric dentist? I know it seems a bit early, but Billy managed to chip one of his front teeth today. He only had 4 teeth in his whole mouth and now we are down to 3 and a halfish. I feel terrible, but what can you possibly do to prevent it? I may need to start keeping him in a padded room. Any suggestions or experience in this area, please share!!

Oh no!  Is he ok?  I know childrens has a dental department but I personally have totally slacked on dental care.  Luke has 7 teeth so I should probably get on it.

Lots of recs on Garden Moms recently. Hope Billy is ok!! So scary! And based on my husband's injuries from childhood, I need to buy Ben a helmet for everyday wear!

He's fine, but I'm sad and wishing his smile hadn't changed.  It wasn't even a big wipe out. I didn't notice the tooth for a few hours. He looks tough as nails now....very Charlestown.

My advice-put a scally cap on him and a hockey stick in his hands and he'll be all set in Charlestown

Sorry. Didn't mean to be unsympathetic. Poor little guy! Glad he's ok. Charlotte face plants just about every day. Goose egg, scraped lip, skinned knees. She is such a lady!

Regardless if he has 1/2 a tooth missing, billy is so cute.  I'm sure they can put a piece on his tooth so it's a full tooth. It's amazing what they can do with teeth now. The only pediatric dentist I am familiar with is near me in Norwell. That would be about 45 minutes south for you.

It's amazing how fast accidents happen now they're on the go. Eleanor's teeth went into her bottom lip last week. Then she topped it off by bruising herself under her right eye.

Good luck with everything!

Miller has 10, so I probably should get on this too...

For what it's worth, my Boston pediatrician said it wasn't necessary until age 3 unless there were significant problems with their teeth. She said the ads in Boston by the dental assoc was a little bit of fear mongering. Also out dentist said he drove an hour to take his kids to the dentist so they seem to be few and far between.

Riggin like billy has chipped at least one tooth. He's adding it to his road rash he just got on his face.

Miss you all!

A few days late--but thank you all for your responses!

Per your comments we have done another round of sleep training and she is now sleeping through 7pm-anywhere between 6:15 and 6:45am. I have also started letting her cry a bit when waking from a nap after 45 min and she is putting herself back to sleep. 45 min naps are now 1.5 hours--WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO DO THIS?!!?!

Riggin sounds like he is tearing it up down south (literally), I am glad to hear both he and Billy are working the chip!

As for pediatric visits, I too heard it wasn't necessary this young. I am friends with a pediatric dentist who did however recommend some tricks for tooth brushing (1) give them a toothbrush--regular--and let them play brush while you are brushing your teeth. They will mimic the behavior (2) they will be more willing to 'let' you brush their teeth at this age if they are lying down. We are really good about #1, not so good with #2.

thanks again!

Sometimes I feel the anticipation is worse than the actual event! Glad things are working out better

Great news, Shirah!! :) Agree on dentist, we are just "brushing" at night. Ben seems to enjoy it and I try to make a big deal of it. He also enjoys brushing his hair.
