Hello Marcin & Team,

I hope you're doing well!

I’m exploring how to use Bacularis as a backup solution for various SQL databases, such as MSSQL and MySQL instances, as well as MongoDB and PostgreSQL databases.

From what I’ve seen, Bacula Enterprise repositories provide tools specifically designed for this purpose. However, I’ve been unable to locate similar tools in the community version, which forms the foundation of Bacularis. I could be mistaken on this point, though, and would greatly appreciate any clarification.

If anyone could shed some light on this matter, it would mean a lot.

Thank you in advance!

Hello Study It,

Yes, I am quite well. Thanks. I hope you are doing fine as well.

Yes, in the enterprise version are some tools to backup popular
databases, like you mentioned. It is interesting that you are posing
this question at this moment because currently we are working on some
support for backup databases in Bacularis. It is planned for the
coming version as a main release function but still there are some
things to do.

I can't provide more details for now, because the Bacularis Project
wants to provide it as a "surprise" for the Community users. By your
question you revealed this surprise a little :-)

Best regards,

Hello,

Glad to hear my ADHD is being interpreted as proactivity—just kidding!

Honestly, it was only a matter of time before I asked about this. Bacula has already proven itself as a reliable tool in any sysadmin’s toolkit, so it’s only natural to be curious about these features.

That said, rest assured this thread won’t spoil the surprise of your upcoming announcement.

I’ll eagerly await the official news!

Best regards,

Hello everyone,

While I am waiting for a integrated database backup solution within Bacularis, I'll give it a try  with Percona Everest, just to see if it solve my main database backup problem.
What about a Percona integration in the Bacularis?

Best regards

Hello Study It,

You promised to not break the surprise :-)

We are working hard to finish the new functions. I really can't say
more but for your question I think you won't be disappointed. At least
you aim quite well ;-)
