Hi,

I am running into an error when installing Bacula via the Bacularis wizard. I'm using Rocky 8.

Fails on the 'Install Catalog' step. Raw output:
===== Step: Install Catalog =====

Software managment command is not configured.
Software managment command is not configured.
Software managment command is not configured.

I saw a similar post with ubuntu, but in the case of Rocky 8, all the bacula packages seem to be available through the Rocky repos.
https://bacularis.app/doc/brief/troubleshooting.html#error-during-bacula-installation-in-initial-wizard-on-ubuntu-22-04-jammy

Appreciate any help and let me know if I can provide any other info.

Hello sudoRoot,

Welcome to the Bacularis user group.

If I understood you well, you have a fresh Bacularis installation and
you are trying to install Bacula through the Bacularis install wizard,
right?

The Bacula installation via Bacularis we added in Bacularis version
4.0.0. After that we found a bug in SELinux rules with installing
Bacula on RPM systems through this wizard. It has been fixed just
after in next release 4.1.0, but if you use 4.0.0 it can happen that
there can be an error on the Catalog step.

For the message:

Software managment command is not configured.

This message is not an error. On this level it is more like an info.

In your case, if you use version 4.0.0, I would propose to update
Bacularis and then try again. If you install Bacularis manually, you
will need to remember about reloading the SELinux module.

Also an useful tip can be that the Bacula installation process in that
wizard can be repeated many times. I mean that it is designed to not
block the installation process if on a previous install try something
went wrong.

Please let us know, if with the above information you were able to
solve this problem.

Best regards,
Marcin Haba (gani)

Understood, thank you! It looks like I am using Bacularis 4.0.0. I used the Bacularis repos to install. It looks like 4.0.0 is the latest version there. What's the best way for me to upgrade? Where can I find the latest version?

Hello sudoRoot,

In the free repositories we provide packages for major releases such
as 4.0.0. Binary packages with the minor releases (currently the
latest 4.3.0) are in the subscription repositories.

If you are interested, you can also try other installation methods. We
provide all Bacularis versions with installing by PHP Composer, manual
installation and Docker containers as well.

Ahh that makes sense. I'd prefer to use the free repo. What distro would you recommend for that? Would ubuntu be better for free tier?

Hello sudoRoot,

Sure. For the DEB binary package, there are available packages for the
following systems:

- Debian 11 Bullseye
- Debian 12 Bookworm
- Ubuntu 20.04 Focal (LTS)
- Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy (LTS)
- Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar
- Ubuntu 23.10 Mantic
- Ubuntu 24.04 Noble (LTS)

You can choose any of them and it should work.

Good luck.

Thank you for your help! I wound up just disabling selinux for right now. It's just a test system anyways. Install went through good!
