Everything worked well for months. Suddenly, when we put Netflix on, no sound. There IS sound for a Netflix trailer, but not for an actual show. All other apps (Disney +, CW, Amazon Prime) are working fine. In another room, with another Roku, Netflix is working fine. What happened, and what needs to be done?

My son was able to fix it. I believe he went into Roku settings and then audio. And change the setting to stereo. Rather than the other one that was selected. And the hdmi setting was at auto. Restarted netflix and it was back to normal. Not sure why it started (never changed the setting to begin with) but it's worked fine since. Hope this helps!

Can you please provide more information about the issue you are experiencing? Is the issue you are experiencing only happen on the Netflix channel or does the loss of audio happen on all channels? What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far to try to resolve the issue? How long has the issue been occurring?

As a first step, could you try to remove any channel you observe this issue on from the Roku home screen? Then, restart your device. Once it loads up again, add the channel back once more and try playing content again.

I have been trying to configure filtering rules to allow netflix streaming but for some reason I cannot get it to work. I have managed to get streaming to work for a little bit but then it fails. Is this an issue with the current UTM version or am I missing something? Are there specific entries that I should be using that are missed in my config?

These are my entries:

Sorry, I don't think the folks that contributed to that thread on Astaro.org will re-create it here. If you're lucky, you might get what you need with a google on site:astaro.org netflix.

Hello EarlMatthew,

Not specific to Roku, but I had an extremely similar problem with netflix and my appletv, and the playstation store. The resolution was to add the device to the "Transparent Mode Skiplist". Basically you do the following. If you haven't already, create an object for your roku. Then add it to the skiplist at this location:

Web Protection> Filtering Options> Misc Tab> Scroll down to "Transparent Mode Skiplist"

Skipping: Authentication / Block by download size / Antivirus / Extension blocking / MIME type blocking / URL Filter / Content Removal / SSL scanning / Certificate trust check / Certificate date check / Do not display download/scan progress page

I agree with PaulArneson and apijnappels. "Transparent Mode Skiplist" is the only way unless you are some sort of Regex guru. Perhaps someone else could explain it to me more clearly but I have always added them to both the source and destination boxes. Another trick is, I don't know why but the inclination is to have the box "Allow HTTP/S traffic for listed hosts/nets" checked. In my experience however it needs to be unchecked for any of this to work.

PaulArnesons fix worked for me. My LGTV and Xbox One was having problems with Netflix, Vudu, etc. Once I gave them a static IP and then added them to the transparent mode exclusions....they worked fine.

For the past four years, I've had no problem streaming Netflix over my Roku box (I have high-speed dsl). Then two months ago, it stopped streaming. I've been on the phone with Roku for hours and tried everything, including buying a new Roku box. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the Roku, since I tried it at another location (on a much slower Verizon dsl connection) and it works fine. So I bought a Vizio apps TV -- I have no problem connecting wirelessly or connecting to Yahoo News or Yahoo Finance, but it won't stream at all (Netflix, YouTube, etc.) Vizio sent a repairman and there's nothing wrong with my TV. They say that it's a problem with Verizon dsl or a router issue. Verizon has checked my line, has sent me a new gateway router (I've tried both the Westell and Actiontec) and nothing works. But it worked fine two months ago!!! Anyone have similar issues -- or solutions???

Thanks, but I think the firewall is off. When I look at the router settings it says, "The default firewall security level is set to "Off". Activating the firewall is optional. When the firewall is activated, security is enhanced, but some network functionality will be lost." FYI, this is what it says for the Firewall Status:

I have the same issues. and V'zon tells me that I need the faster version of DSL to use netflix, This is something I had for two years then V. took it away because " I live too far from the substation" now I get another notice that I am being offered the higher speed DSL. I am so confused and frustrated

I don't think speed is the issue. I took my Roku box, which stopped working at my house with very fast dsl (15 Mbps), and tried it in my apartment which has very slow Verizon dsl (1 Mbps). The same Roku box worked fine in my apartment?!?
