FirstI tried to set the auxilliary button on my Time-Warner Cable remote to the Bose radio. The cable remote instructions list these codes for Bose audio equipment: 070, 170, 224, 374, 409, 460, 532. I tried them all, but none of them worked. So then I tried the scanning method, holding down the channel button until the radio turns off. But it never turned off.

I did an internet search on controlling Bose devices with universal remotes and found a plethora of contradictory information, none of which solved my problem. So I called Bose customer support. Their products may be pricey, but they sure have good customer support. I got someone on the phone immediately, and he was knowledgeable. He explained the problem instantly and gave me the solution.

Tip on using the learning function with the Bose remote: Holding down the volume Up or Down button is a different command than a single press of Up or Down. You need to program both into the universal remote.

The Apple TV 4 supports Apple TV remotes from previous generations as well, for which the setup codes 2615 and 1115 have been created. Should the Apple TV not respond with the above mentioned codes, the TV4 also has the capability to learn commands from a remote. This way, you can setup the One For All remote for usage. On the Contour, you can use the DVD or AMP key for your DVD-Home Cinema. After programming the set-up code, please test the volume keys. Also please check if the 1-0 keys change the inputs and if play and stop work correctly with the DVD-Home Cinema.

The Amazon Fire TV is a streaming stick which is based on the Bluetooth technology. One For All remotes are not compatible with Bluetooth. There is still a possibility to control the Amazon Fire TV with the One For All remote control. Please enable the CEC mode on your TV. The CEC function allows you to control the Amazon Fire Stick in the TV mode.

Before resetting the Contour, please take the following into account:

In that case, it is highly advised not to perform a factory reset.

It is possible to lock the volume on your Contour to a single device key (for example: the volume control could be linked only to a TV). This means that when the remote is in DVD or SAT mode and the volume keys are pressed, the TV volume will still be activated.

Only if the remote gives you that ability. My Harmony remote does that for me because I programmed it to have all the settings I need, I am not familiar with your GE 33709 so I have no idea of it's capabilities. When you spend $10 on a universal remote you are not going to get the same capabilities as one is valued at $100. Is a $100 remote 10x better, I don't really know but if it does what you want then I'd say yes.

Thanks! I can change the volume by hitting the "Aux" button, which I've programmed to my TV, but I was hoping to take advantage of the fact that the Apple TV can learn a remote for volume to let me do that without having to press the "Aux" function first (yeah, I know it's a very minor thing; just looking to make it as easy as possible) :)
