I have received several text messages from person A. The name and phone number were correct. Today, I received a text message from person A. Facebook Messenger has the correct phone number, but all text messages from person A now are listed as coming from another name. All other messages/senders in Facebook Messenger seem to be correct.
I have a Samsung Android phone. My contacts are in Google Contacts. I checked my contacts and both person A and the other person have the correct information. Facebook Messenger has permission to access the contacts. It seems to work for every other message. It seemed to work fine up until today, when it decided to change the name of the sender. I have restarted the phone, and the problem did not go away.
As far as I can tell, there is zero connection between the two contacts. Two distinct people who have no relationship with each other. Phone numbers from different area codes. They do not have the same email provider. Their names are not close/similar. They do not work at the same company. etc.
I have never heard of this type of problem, and I don't really have any ideas as to how/why Facebook Messenger changed the name of the sender, but still shows the correct phone number. Any ideas/suggestions?
Here is how I was able to "fix" the problem. I have no understanding of what caused the problem, nor why it persisted. I deleted the contact for the other person. Then, I checked facebook messenger. The messages now showed the correct name. I re-created the contact for the other person, and it all seems fine.

There are also different features on a profile and a page. Created for personal use, in the profile, you can add friends while a page has followers. If you have a profile, when someone finds you on Facebook, they will send you a friend request to keep in contact, while on a page they can just click the "like" button to follow, and see its posts on their feed.
With a page, you will have access to business features such as selling on the Facebook marketplace. To create a page on Facebook, it's necessary to have your personal profile first, but you can add multiple Facebook profiles to manage one page.
Now that you know how to change your name on Facebook, what about making the change you have always wanted? When making the alteration, pay close attention to if you wrote the name correctly because once you click on "save changes", you can't change the name again for 60 days. Remember using fake names or pretending to be someone else isn't allowed.

The other attendees actually see your name as you entered it; YOU see "Me" in Chat so that it's easier to pick out your own name when scrolling through the conversation. (In other words, every attendee sees "Me" when viewing their own messages in the Chat panel.)
You don't need to change anything - you're all good!
Interestingly, Zoom does not provide a mechanism for their clients to remain anonymous in the chat. Regardless of how my Zoom account is configured, I see "me" but others see my entire name. It is the presenters who have control over how our names are shown in the chat.
Removing unwanted names from your Chat sidebar in Facebook makes it easier to see who's online and select your favorite chat buddies. As you can see from my screenshot, I was requesting a new name every day if not every other day, depending on my schedule. It takes a bit of time for the approval to go through, and then for you to remember to submit a new request again.
Hi Georgina, Oh no! I guess Facebook caught on to this workaround. I wish they would just allow us to make reasonable changes to our Page Name but it appears they are doubling down on efforts to make it difficult. UGH. Sorry to hear that, but thanks for sharing!
Georgina, I have just used this strategy and although they say you can only change once per week I was able to do it once per day as long as I had waited at least the 24 hours since the last change. I changed one word per day and now have our new business name :).
Thank you for the information, this is exactly what I needed however, we now have to wait 7 days between changes. Also, my page is brand new and only has a few likes, therefore even small pages have difficulty changing names.
I am trying since 4 months to do this , but it does not work, I make rebranding of my restaurants, and the name Change from Crpe de Paris to Mon Paris after 10 years, facebook always denied my changes name, I dont know what to do, the restaurants, food, staff are still the same it s just new name, facebook is the only place that didnt allow me the change, please help me
