In Joe De Sena's new book (parenting book), he talks about the value of doing a Spartan Race is not to get big biceps or ripped abs. The point is to build toughness, resilience, and grit. It's about choosing the hard path so that when things really do get hard, you're prepared.
Things got hard in 2020 for his company. He feared it could go under. However, he felt as prepared as one could be— he chose the mindset of feeling prepared.
Choose the hard path. You don't do this because you're disciplined. You build discipline by doing this.
