AO: #ao_shirleys_temple
PAX: (12) Ivey, Red, Sound Check, Alaska, Scrum, Rush, Padre, Poison, Grappler, Sunny, Jazz Hands, and Heisenberg (QIC)
NMS: The weather was foggy, with temps. in the lower 60s. YHC enjoyed seeing Scrum’s pre-blast science puns in the
Northside text chain. (“I have so many chemistry jokes, but I’m afraid I won’t
get a good reaction.”) On Slack, Ivey and Red said they were running a 5K before
the workout, and YHC thought that sounded like a good idea for him to do as
well. As YHC pulled into the parking lot, he saw Sound Check warming up and
gathering some data from his Achilles. YHC knew that he had better begin his 5K
run before 0500. If you’ve ever witnessed the “Heisenberg shuffle,” then you would
understand the reason for YHC’s early start. Red and Ivey passed YHC at around
the halfway point. They set a good pace, with negative splits at each mile.
#goodworkgoodwork When YHC finished up his run and returned to the flag, he saw
Jazz Hands, Sunny, Padre, Poison, Grappler, Scrum…the usual Northside crew,
minus our Greene County brothers Bernie and 8 Mile. And it is always true that
any workout is #betterwithalaska. YHC told Rush that leading an F3 workout is
like using curse words. You should do it every once in a while, with a specific
emphasis, and you should have a good reason for doing it. And when you do it,
it may cause others to sit up and take notice. And if you do it too much,
people might start to get annoyed. Anyway, today was a good reason for YHC to Q
a workout, as he was celebrating his 2-year F3-versary. (YHC’s first post was at
Devil’s Dice on 10-14-19.) During the transition from Part 3 to Part 4, YHC
stumbled a bit during the mosey as a small hill just seemed to appear out of
nowhere. It was only a stumble, and not a faceplant (thank goodness). YHC
commented that, in a reference to his namesake’s
uncertainty principle, that there was a brief moment where he knew his
momentum, but not his position. Here’s how it all went down.
Warm-Up: SSHs, DQs, Sun Gods, Copperhead Squats, burpees (burpees in cadence? The PAX still need some practice with that.)
The Thang:
Part 1: DORA
Mosey over to the soccer fields next to Hollymead ES.
P1 does burpee broad jumps across the soccer field while
P2 (timekeeper) does 20 merkins, 10 big boy sit-ups, & 5 squat jumps, and runs to catch up with P1.
Rinse and repeat until each man does 3 sets.
Part 2: DORA
Mosey over to the playground area behind Hollymead ES.
P1 does a wall sit while P2 runs to a certain spot, turns around, and bear crawls back to P1.
Rinse and repeat until each man does 3 sets.
Part 3: DORA
P1 holds BTTW while P2 runs to a certain spot, turns around, and crab walks back to P1.
Rinse and repeat until each man does 3 sets.
Mosey over to the back corner of Lakeside Middle School.
Part 4: DORA
P1 does something active (e.g., plank jacks, mountain climbers, burpees, SSHs) while
P2 runs up the hill, turns left on Powell Creek drive, turns left into the parking lot, and runs back to P1.
Rinse and repeat until each man does 3 sets.
Mary: Low Slow Flutters, Freddie Mercuries, Wheezy Jeffersons, Penguin Crunches, Supermans, J-Los, Pickle Pounders, American Hammers
Announcements:
Poison mentioned that starting next Thursday (Oct. 21), the PAX are invited to attend a Q-Source “Leadership Lunch” meeting. This will take place at the Bodo’s on Preston at 12 noon.
Sunny is Q-ing at the Bridge this Saturday. If you have already posted at The Bridge, that’s great. Please continue to encourage other members of the PAX who have not yet posted at that AO to make that commitment on a Saturday morning.
Count-o-Rama
Name-O-Rama
COT: YHC invited each member of the PAX to say the name of one member of F3 C-ville who was not present at this workout. You could mention a man’s name either because you want to keep that man in your thoughts or because you want to express your appreciation for that man. 12 names were mentioned, and YHC closed out the COT by expressing his gratitude for his F3 brothers on his 2-year F3-versary.
An honor to lead,
Heisenberg
