Q took us out in with his observations noted
during his recent trip to New Orleans.
It was a great weekend that included a bike tour of the French Quarter
and Garden District (https://www.buzznola.com/garden--quarter-combo), as well
as a performance at the historic Preservation Hall (https://www.preservationhall.com/). Related stories learned about the pride that
fueled the build-out of the Garden district as wealthy members built larger and
larger mansions in this suburb of New Orleans (it was cooler during the
summer). The houses got bigger and more elaborate in a competition among the prideful
men. Juxtaposed this against the humility that was evident during the Jazz
performance where very talented, yet humble, men played amazing music together. Friendly, healthy competition and ambition
are positive – nothing wrong with that, but the excessive pride that fuels negative
outcomes is to be avoided. Just asked
the PAX to consider the importance of humility in the face of the examples of
excessive pride on display even today.
