Election updates UTLA and SDM

Hello All,

As of now, nobody has turned in a UTLA Chair self-nomination form. This would mean that we head into next year without a member of the staff acting as our onsite union representation. If that remains the case for next year, I would more strongly recommend advice I would offer all teachers, even without union representation, go to utla.net and download the current contract. If you feel your rights are being violated, use the index to locate any provisions you feel addresses your situation.

SDM has some self-nominations, but according to the election committee, not enough for all spots. SDM is led in half their meetings by the UTLA chair, I am not sure what happens in the case of a school with SDM, but no chair. On that note, I hope someone who might wavering on participation decides to submitting their self-nomination forms for UTLA chair and/or SDM.
