The following lists the steps to do a manual ( on-demand ) update of the definitions of the Windows 10' Microsoft Defender antivirus.
Your Windows is a 64-bit one. The gist of the steps is to download the 64-bit update package AND save it, when done, to run that exe file.

Windows defender works like an antivirus software that can be run online as well offline to scan malicious files and remove them immediately. Before proceeding to virus removal process get an USB flash drive having capacity of more than 1 GB to download the Windows Defender Offline software and follow the steps given below.
In windows 10 just go to settings open update & recovery, and then visit at recovery under advanced startup where you just need click Restart now. After that under the boot menu go to troubleshoot and then advance options and UEFI firmware settings to restart the computer into BIOS where you can do the changes in boot order.
Now connect the USB drive on the virus infected computer and restart, here windows defender will start automatically performing scanning process for detecting virus, rootkit, or adware etc. that can be recognized while using latest definition update on your computer.
Once you create windows 10 defender offline media you can sue it for scanning and removing virus from any other previous version of windows operating system. Here if you need help, you can call at windows 10 support phone number and get online support for windows defender related issues on your computer.
None of these solutions above worked for me. Strangely, I noticed that when I was disconnected from the network, git bash would open immediately. I then thought about why the network would matter. When opening a new git bash shell, a user's ENV is configured. This requires getting the current logged in user info. If you are using an active directory remote account (not a local windows account), this information is read from the AD server. If the AD server is inaccessible or your network is slow, opening git bash will hang. If you disconnect your network and git bash works immediately, follow these instructions to create a local /etc/passwd file.
Commands like pull, push, etc. seemed to take forever on git bash. Trying on git windows command line prompted github authentication was necessary (web browser/personal token). On authentication, commands started working fine on git windows and git bash as well.
I have been strugling with git bash since 2 months because my colleauge( root problem) told me to store git credentials and I don't know what happend to windows 10 but it screwed up. What I have noticed that whenever it starts it is checking the connection to domain server. here goes my solution. I have removed from these arguments fromproperties -> start at: %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%.
I've downloaded PUP software before which Malwarebytes detected but windows defender failed. Also downloaded some Malicious software which install a million other programs along with it. Never been compromised or hack though.
