1. I have been using a variety of Ultimakers for almost 10 years, and I think they are awesome. Like all 3D printers, they require a bit of maintenance now and then, but I find these to be super reliable (albeit pricey). I use PLA for most things. 

2. I heard great things about Prusas, but we got one as a kit, and it was ridiculously tedious to assemble. 

3. Alyssa Blumberg at Spence really likes the Bambu printers, especially for multicolor prints.

We are loving the Bambu X1 Carbon printer. It is reasonably priced and prints up to 4 colors. It has been pretty reliable and prints beautifully.
