Technology Integration & Teaching

Happy Tuesday!

I was curious if your schools differentiate between technology integration specialists and technology/STEAM/Maker teachers in Lower School (and Middle). For those who are integrationists do they teach any classes, some classes, or a full class load (and if so what grades/how often). I know the "Technology/Maker/STEAM" classes go by many names and titles- how is it broken down for your particular school?

I teach Technology classes for all grades PreK-4th Grade (K-4 meeting 1x per 6 day rotation. Jr.K & PreK about 1x per month). I am also the integration specialist for the whole lower school. I wanted to reach out to see how it was structured for other independent schools in the area.

Katty,

We are structured like you are in the K-5 space. I teach Tech, 1-5, and am the tech integrator, teaching once a 6 day cycle.  We also have an Engineering and a Media Specialist.

Similar here at BC. I am the STEAM Integrator and teach classes in 1st-4th grade. I also support the whole lower school (PK-4) with their other tech integration needs, beyond the classes I teach 1x per 6 day cycle.
