Almost perfect!

My son just turned 3 and we had a Summer Infant BestView when he was first born. We loved it, but after a while the batteries wore out and replacements weren't available, so it had to be plugged in all the time. Then eventually it wouldn't take a charge and just died.
Although my son is older now, I still like the comfort of having the video monitor and we plan to expand our family soon anyway. I spent hours and hours agonizing over which video monitor to buy to replace it. Every time I would find one that I thought met all my needs, I would find review online that said it was junk. I asked all my friends for help and advice, but none of the monitors they had seemed to do what my old-standby had done for me. With all the new technology available, the basics seemed to be lacking on the new models.
After much agonizing, I ended up just buying the new model of the Summer Infant BestView. It had mixed reviews, but it hadn't let me down in the past, so I thought I
would give it a try. I'm glad I did. It is almost exactly what I had hoped for.
The video is clearer than on my old model, with no delay. I was worried that the video would skip because I couldn't find out how many "frames per second" this model was, but there is no issue here. The video quality is very good.
The audio is less clear than on my old model, but with the volume up high I have no trouble hearing my little one. The audio on our old model was very sensitive...if I wanted to, I could hear him breathe. I loved that. This model has good volume, but not quite that good. My husband and I are very heavy sleepers, so it was important that the audio was loud enough. I had read some reviews of others where the audio was not loud enough. Although I would like it to be more sensitive, the audio is quite good.
My husband was out of town when the model arrived in the mail, so I was a little concerned about hooking it up myself, but it was very easy. Just plug
and go, really.
My biggest complaint is that the sound lights are constantly flickering when it's on. Even when our home is completely silent, the sound lights are moving. I'm guessing it has to be some sort of interference of some sort, but I haven't figured it out yet. We've had the monitor for 3 or 4 days and I ended up just putting a piece of black tape over the lights because I kept seeing them flicker out of the corner of my eye. It was driving me a bit batty and I don't need the sound lights that badly anyway.

love this monitor!!

We just purchased this monitor for our one year old daughter.. man.. I wish we had bought this a year ago! It is so nice to be able to just check in on her without having to walk in her room!
My only thing I dislike about this, is the fact the noise lights at the top are VERY sensitive.. my daughter was talking quietly to herself in bed, and it was registering as one of the loudest sound lights.. not a big deal, but kind of irritating..
