Another great Levana product

I have a newborn grandson that I babysit for occasionally, so I got this video camera to use when he is here.
I have used other Lavana video cameras in the past, and I love the quality of their products. This digital video baby monitor
is no exception. The quality is great, the clearity of the display is amazing, and the night vision works awesome. The only thing
I wish I could change is the size of the display. It is smaller then the ones I have used in the past, but the quality of the picture kind of
makes up for that. The sound is very clear, even the sound of my voice when I talk to my grandson through this monitor. I also love the fact
that it isn't Wifi, so no one can hack into it. It also doesn't interfere with my Wifi modem, so that is a huge plus. I would highly recommend this
baby monitor, for the quality alone. The price on this one is less expensive then some of the other models they have, so this one is much more affordable as well.

Elegant and beautiful design, and easy to learn on your own

The Levana Baby Monitor is a 4-piece device that is easy to assemble. The four pieces are: (1) A module with a video camera, microphone, antenna, and light that is optionally activated from the remote control unit; (2) A hand-held remote control unit with a television screen, and fold-out antenna; (3) A 6-foot cord with transformer with plug, for use with the module; and (4) Another 6-foot cord with its own transformer and plug, for use with the television. The camera on the module can be adjusted downwards and upwards.
The hand-held remote control panel has a flip-out leg so that it can stand up on its own, and it also contains a battery, in case you don't want to use the wall socket plug. I was not able to figure out on my own how to access the battery, but eventually I learned that you need to yank off the flip-out leg assembly, and once this is done, it is very easy to get at the battery. Originally, I thought that the flip-out leg assembly was welded to the
control panel, but it is not, it is only clipped to the control panel.
The remote control unit has an illuminated panel enables the user to control various things. What can be controlled is volume of the sound received, brightness of the video image on the small television screen (e.g., your baby's image), and volume of the sound transmitted (please note that you can use the control panel to talk to your baby). The video screen of the control panel also provides the temperature, and the control panel enables you to select Fahrenheit or centigrade. The image quality and the color quality on the little television screen are excellent.
I tested the ability of the monitor to transmit video and sound across my house, that is, from the living room to the bedroom. This was a distance of about 50 feet, and through four walls. The transmission of the video and of the sound was excellent. For this test, I used a recording of surfing music by The Ventures. I have
also tested the device with my own voice. If any complaint can be made, it is that the device makes the sound have an echo. I wish that there was no echo, but I did not design the unit, and so there is nothing I can do to correct it. In another test, I determined that there is a very slight delay, when sound is transmitted from the video unit to the control panel module (the delay is about a quarter of a second).
The product comes with printed directions. The printed directions don't have much information, but it is not difficult for consumers to figure out how to use the product on their own. The printed directions provide a website, where the consumer can acquire more detailed directions, and to acquire live help from a help desk.

Great quality picture, but small screen and doesn't pan/zoom.

We've been using this Levana Sophia camera with our newborn daughter and here are my thoughts on it:
Pros:
- Very sharp quality screen. The picture is the best I've seen on the various baby monitors I have.
- Easy to set up out of box. It comes already connected, and you don't need to read the instructions. It's very easy to operate.
- Temperature display is a nice feature.
- Talk to baby feature works well.
Cons:
- No pan/zoom/tilt feature. As your baby gets older, it's nice to be able to move the camera in order to see her. This camera doesn't offer that.
- Small screen.
- Ugly unit. I didn't like the yellow color used on the monitor, and the camera itself also looks cheap.
This is an entry level model, but the price doesn't reflect it. I'd rather spend a little more and get the excellent Levana Astra 3.5" PTZ Digital Baby Video Monitor with Talk to Baby Intercom 32006 (White).
