We've had some weird incoming calls from 101 today. The first two started at 4:30am  - they came in pairs (two incoming calls at exactly the same time, both from +101) and were still ringing continuously without going to answer phone at about 8am - they were declined without answering. Then two more this evening, starting at 21:26 and 22:09 - again both from +101 and both ringing continuously without going to answer phone. I tried to answer one of these but just got a silent line.

101 is the police non-emergency number in England and Wales, but I doubt this is relevant. It's not the number of any of our internal phones.

Can anyone shed any light?

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

Please could you confirm the name of your Babblevoice domain.

Many Thanks,

Craig

Hi Geoff,

We've taken a look at this and in the call records there are no calls in or out of your domain pertaining to number 101.

What extension were these received on and was it the X-lite client?

If it was the X-lite client can you just check to ensure no other accounts have been setup on it?

Hi Craig,

Apologies, Google have messed up my account and I'm not getting updates (set up an Android phone, which forced creation of a gmail.com email address and locked my account to that, so updates, receipts for anything bought through google checkout like babblevoice credit all go to that which I don't use. Thanks google, the whole single sign-on thing rather collapses when you do utterly stupid things like that. Anyway, that's another issue and definitely nothing to do with babblevoice!).

There's only one account set up in XLite (in fact it looks like you can only set up one account in the latest version).

It did more or less the same thing this morning - 16 concurrent incoming calls all starting at 1:28am, but this time from an unknown number. Again, this was the only client phone connected at the time.

Very weird - I wonder if it's something happening internally within X-Lite?

Hi Geoff,

What I am able to do for you is set up some network traces from our server to double check that the calls are not going through our system. If the calls are coming through our system it will show up in this trace, if they do not then it must be down to a feature inside x-lite.

Regards,
Craig

Geoff,

Also your IP address is this a static business address or a dynamic home address?

Hi Craig,

The router this phone is behind is on a dynamic IP - it doesn't change often, though.

I've had a it occur a couple of times during the day recently - it's only rung on this PC, not the other phones in the group, so it's either an internal problem with X-Lite or an internal call to this extension, definitely not coming in over the external number.

I've just had a new variation on it - 50 simultaneous incoming calls at 12:58 today, but this time from 'asterisk' instead of from 101 (X-Lite doesn't show an underlying number, it's literally just 'asterisk' - if I save it as a contact the number stored is 'asterisk' as well as the name).

At the moment the only solution I can see is to replace X-Lite with a hardware phone, which I need to do anyway as there are other issues on this PC which aren't strictly phone related but seriously affect its usability as a phone (the sound card drivers like to automatically adjust the volume and mic levels down - usually only at startup, but sometimes randomly during the day...).

Hi Craig,

I've emailed you at the address - it's a weird one, I can't find any references to anyone else having similar problems with either X-Lite or babblevoice, and even on my setup it's only affecting the one extension! Got to be something very specific...

Geoff
