you are partially right :)
The server project is still active and we use it for our own projects and for our clients.
We are working on a brand-restyle and as soon as we are ready, we will release v.1.0.0
Unfortunately the SDKs have less support than the server, I admit it
OrientDB: you can tell to BaasBox (1.0.0-M3) to start the ODB daemon in order to accepts connections by its console tool and have a raw interaction with the internal database. Migration to a more recent version of ODB is planned but is not a priority. As the matter of fact is a very hard task because they changed a lot of Java API and this means a lot of code refactoring.
Play: you are right. In this case too, the Play team completely changed the framework. They even removed the "play" executable. We should change a lot of things just to say we are using the latest version, but actually, at the moment, we do not feel the urge to use it.
