Dear Friends,

This is a great news that we are putting in a few elements this year to make life more joyous at Sabka Ghar.

What is Permaculture -- Developing any land based system by replicating how 'Nature' works is Permaculture. Its the only (as far as i know) ethical scientific system that works in harmony with nature and speaks for everyone's rightful share, that is to say for all species. To know more about Permaculture kindly go and search the Google Goddess.

Why Permaculture -- Natural Resources in the world are limited. Its our responsibility to use them fairly and leave back well enough for the future generation. Join us as volunteers and know how to use resources in your own life with responsibility.

PLAN 2016 - Attached excel sheet has a fair amount of information as to what we are doing in 2016 at Sabka Ghar. The plan is always open for discussion and additions/changes. 2 month volunteer program has already started.

Kindly add emails of anyone who might be interested in gettng this info.

Regards,
Gaurav

Dear Anuradha Ma'am,

Hope you are in joy... :)

Does t kitchen garden, sapling and slope plan have targets for production ?

How much (in kg ) vegetables / cereals will be available in August 2016 , oct 2016 and further ?
In terms of yeilds we do intend to be sufficient in our vegetable consumption for the no of people living at Sabka Ghar. (Approx 40 persons by Dec 2016)  We are also planning a small grain (millet) growth and cow fodder. We do not have a kg evaluation for how much output we will get but we can get that info in the coming monsoons when we are ready for planting.

On the slope we are going for planting which will heal/rejuvenate the soil/land, some timber trees, a few fruit trees to start with. Fruit trees might start giving yield in 3-5 years.

We are planning to experiment with berries and grapevines as well.

So as of now, our plan is to identify the energy input and output in the whole system of Sabka Ghar (including the way of life) & make small changes here and there to save any energy getting wasted. Energy saved is Energy earned. For eg composts, rainwater harvesting, etc etc......and then there are other goals as well --

  • Interconnection between elements and support framework
  • Healing/Rejuvenating the soils
  • Experiment with Bio diversity
  • Bring in intensive growing systems like Bio Char, IMO Havesting
  • Renovate currect architecture

How will sabka ghar inhabitants (especially children) benefit from this plan ?
We all, including children benefit from this because we know what we are eating. Its safe and healthy. Plus they have fun growing it. Also learn an important life skill on the way.

Also the way we develop a land in the Permaculture way, it requires us to connect with nature at a deeper level, to observe keenly, to understand the link between various plants and insects at work. We are able to make sense of the chaos in nature. All of this knowledge we would love to share with everyone around in our community discussions involving kids as well.

Love n Joy,
Gaurav

hi Guys...

the pace of activity at Sabka Ghar is on the rise... Thanks to all of you for your commitment :) ... its overwhelming ..

during my visit to Sabka Ghar............ last weekend ........... I could sense the Fellows... itching ... to take on creating a Boundaryless world .... :)

That will take a few more months.... (and it is already on course)... Yet... Sabka Ghar and its future is important for every fellow...many of them already  own it !

to add to that ... Gaurav, Rohan and Prerena have taken on creating Self Sufficiency at Sabka Ghar :) ... (i am flirting with the idea to retire earlier than i ever thought :) )

yet... for future... as a result of discussion with Gaurav and the fellows .... to create institution.... worked today ... on the project proposal  format ...

Do look up ... point out what i missed ... suggest other formats  ( i preferred to confine it as one sheet- back and forth... 2 pages )...

lets freeze this ................so that Gaurav, Prerena and party are clear about... how to move forward ..

cheers ...

Hi guys,

I'm Rohan the volunteer incharge of design supervision of the permaculture and campus development project. My main role here would be guide and direct the efforts of the team. I have an experience of 4 years including a 6 month permaculture course from Australia, which I am happy to share and use for the betterment of our civilization.

Below I am attaching a link to the project and site planning sheets on google drive. This way all info will be in one safe place and also updated , seen and used by all of us working on the project on our smartphones or laptops on the go. ( if you have drive/sheets app on your phone you can even enter new  info right on your phone straight to this file)

I already have written a lot of info down which I shared with Gaurav and briefly with Munesh Ji. I do not have the hard copy with me right now but will fill that in tomorrow. After this the ground team Prerna and Gaurav will start filling in the rest.
Lots of info is still needed and might take up these two weeks to map and list everything.

God speed ahead :)

Warm Regards,

Rohan Mathew
