I have written a program which reads mouse strokes drawn with the mouse
or whatever pointer device. I have found that it's limited by the
sampling speed that X devotes to the mouse pointer. on the Pentium pro
200 that I have at home running Linux, this speed is much faster than
the UltraSparc I have at work running Solaris 2.5 under Openwin. I
would like to get X to sample the mouse pointer more frequently. in
other words, I would like X to deliver events from the mouse more
frequently. I tried:

% xset m 1 0

which slowed the mouse down (and was helpful in some ways), but this is
not really what I wanted. I wanted to be able to move the mouse just as
fast and get more points along the way. I don't know if this is an X
issue, a window manager problem, etc. If you know something, please
help. I'm trying to find the highest-level fix (i.e. something that
doesn't require recompiling X, etc)
