Saturday night I left San Francisco after ten and there were four bikes near
the door where I sat. One older black guy didn't have a wall to lean his
bike and somehow fell and landed on his bike when the train slowed down. He
wasn't alright but not seriously injured but I could see his bike chain had
come off. Most of the younger people who witnessed this laughed like it
could never happen to them.

Sunday I left San Francisco before eight but once again, bike was the
problem. I took Pittsburg/Bay Point to East Bay and had to transfer in
Oakland. When we got to the transferring station, one guy had his bike
right by the door and a chubby woman was also standing by the door so nobody
could get out! The chubby woman told the bike guy that he should get out in
order so others could transfer but made not attempt to get off herself.

Bikes on BART is still not ready and they must at least label the trains
with handicap seats removed so people have place to park the bikes. If they
could put a rack, cyclists wouldn't be hitting other passengers with the
tires or blocking the doors.

Also, Sunday morning I was surprised to learn that they were running direct
trains from Richmond to the City. I happened to got on because I arrived at
the station early. The train was dead empty probably because nobody knew
about it. They also ran slightly longer trains so it was just as packed as
a typical weekend with games going on.

A better idea would be to throw the bikes under a (preferably moving)
BART train.
