Amtrak CC to local transportation transfer

I noticed yesterday on the Capitol Corridor train that there is a poster
reading "ask your conductor for a free transfer to local transit"
including AC Transit and VTA.
Is this a new feature?
Have anyone here successfully used such a transfer?

I don't know when it started, but it's been around for at least 5 years.
I use the transfers frequently on AC Transit. Too bad they're not valid
on Muni.
Also, they sell discounted BART cards in the cafe car, $8 for $10 value,
one card per customer per ride.
