alarming rise in crime plaguing our city. It is with great disappointment
that we call for the recall of our current mayor, Sheng Thao whose failure

I write this petition as a resident who has personally witnessed the
devastating impact of escalating crime in Oakland. The sense of fear and
insecurity that now permeates our neighborhoods is disheartening. Our once
vibrant and diverse city is suffering from an unprecedented wave of
violence, leaving innocent lives shattered and families torn apart.
Facts and Statistics:
1. Crime Epidemic: According to reliable local news sources such as ABC7
News and CBS San Francisco, there have been nearly 100 shootings reported
in Oakland over the past few months alone. This surge in gun violence
demands immediate attention from our elected officials.
2. Missed Deadline for State Funding: It is deeply concerning that our
mayor failed to meet the deadline for securing state funding dedicated to
combating crime within our community. This negligence not only reflects a
lack of prioritization but also denies us crucial resources needed to
address this crisis effectively.
Call for Action:
We believe it is imperative to hold our elected officials accountable when
they fail to fulfill their duties and protect their constituents' safety.
We demand a recall election be initiated against the current mayor of
Oakland so that we can elect a leader who will prioritize public safety
above all else.
