I just had a good experience with a painting contractor and thought I'd
share it with the group.

Early Friday morning I met him at the gym; he had his truck advertising his
business in the parking lot. I asked one of the employees to point out the
owner of the truck. I explained that my decks were in serious need of
stripping and re-staining. He agreed to come up Saturday (yesterday) morning
to give me an estimate.

Early Friday evening he called to say he had the time to come up
immediately, and that he could START on Saturday if I accepted his quote. He
came. He quoted. I accepted.

He not only showed up on time, he actually showed up a half-hour early, a
miracle in and of itself. He finished power spraying in a few hours and I
then had him power spray, my steep, long, moss-encrusted driveway. This he
also did quickly and for a reasonable price.

Today he showed up with four helpers (on time again!) and did an excellent
job. It's actually completed. I am going to have him quote doing the
exterior of my house as well.

If you're in need of a reliable, responsible and punctual painting
contractor, you may want to consider Todd Harris of H2N. He can be reached
at: 408-224-3982.

P.S. I might even have him paint the Skyway...

Sky blue, of course.

Nah -- it would clash with the trees and the birds wouldn't be
able to see it.

Although I've been accused of being a heartless, self-centered, money-hungry
developer, in truth I'm a consensus, democratic, "Alan Alda" (gag) kinda
guy. I'll leave it to the group to decide the most appropriate color(s) for
the Skyway and retail emporiums.

Public consensus is no long an acceptable method of establishing
aesthetic compatibility. This has been delegated to the various
planning departments and agencies which are currently responsible
for approving the "fallout shelter motif" and the more "energy
efficient windowless prison like brick design" that seems to be
popular in the Peoples Republic of SCZ. The skyway will no doubt
follow the path of maximum appeasement and attempt to satisfy all
the vocal pressure groups.

Therefore, I suggest that the skyway have:
1. Blue underside to blend with the color the sky.
2. Forest green pylon supports to blend with the redwood forest.
3. Murals at street level to minimize graffitti.
4. Bright orange center road divider drunk driver deflectors for
maximum visibility and safety.
5. Camouflage color roadway to make it invisible to airborne
military attack.
6. Simulated rustic cabin maintenance buildings to maintain a
rural motif.
7. Video cameras with automatic license plate readers to insure
compliance with the War on Drugs funding.
8. Regularly spaced turnouts with non-denominational shrines for
those wishing to stop and offer thanks for having made it this
far.
9. Seperate but equal lanes for bicycles, joggers, roller
skaters, commuters, electric vehicles, and sand trucks. Each
lane will be uniquely color coded. The slower traffic lanes will
tend toward the blood red end of the colour spectrum.
10. Landing lights for use as an emergency airstrip.

While I realize that many of the aformentioned non-negotiable
demands and marginal requirements are contradictory, I rely upon
the collective wisdom of the manifold advisory committees,
regulatory agencies, PAC's, planning departments, and very
independent government agencies to reach asuitable unworkable
compromise which nobody likes.
