I didn't know anything about the story when I tuned in, so I was
pleasantly surprised that it had significant gay/lesbian content (there are
some woman-to-woman romantic scenes in Part 1 that are rather
daring by American TV standards).
David Haig, who plays Harold Nicolson, is very cute. May be he'll reveal
more of himself in parts 2 and 3...
"Portrait of a Marriage", part 2, will be shown on Sunday, 7/26 at 9 p.m.
on Channel 9.
I reccomend the book very strongly! It is far better than this production
and things are spelled out with much better clarity and sincerity than
this TV production.
Just my $0.02 (why was the cent sign excluded from ASCII?)

i would second mark's recommendation (throw in another $.02)... i
pulled the book out of the library a couple of days ago... vita's
writing is honest and straightforward and paints a vivid portrait...
will provide interesting insight as well to anyone interested in
literature and thought of the period and locale (ie woolf,
bloomsbury...etc.)
the title of the book is the same and its author is the son of the
central figures, nigel nicolson...
best, rj
ps. hello mark... :-)
