Job Description :
A leading provider of intelligent optical networking systems isseeking a Vice President
of Engineering to direct and manage a largedepartment of software and hardware
development engineers. Thisdepartment is responsible for developing world
class OpticalNetworking software and systems for one of Silicon Valley'spremier
Telecom companies.This is an excellent VP opportunity at a leading provider ofintelligent
optical networking systems and software. Theydesign, manufacture and
sell open architecture, DWDM systemsfor fiber optic communications networks, optical
networkingsolutions and access systems. This company is extremelysuccessful,
profitable, and rapidly growing.In this position you will: * Manage a team
of 160-200 managers, software and hardware engineers. * Oversee research, development,
design, and enhancements of corporate products. * Coordinate engineering
resources with engineering managers and manage development projects for
timely product delivery. * Recruit and motivate senior engineering staff. * Coordinate
and facilitate activities and commitment with other department and/or
functions. * Develop and monitor the engineering department budget. * Plan and
manage the deployment of resources for multiple concurrent projects.The compensation
package includes a competive base salary, 30% to35% bonus and generous

* Fifteen plus years of relevant technical experience including VP and/or Senior
Director level positions. At least five years must be with networking
products preferably optical networking. * Demonstrated success as a VP/Director
of Engineering of a large group delivering successful products. * Progressive
management experience including VP and/or Senior Director level. * A successful
track record leading a sizable organization developing networking technology
including hardware and software groups of 100+ individuals. * In depth
knowledge of Wide Area (WAN) and/or Local Area Networking (LAN) technologies.
Experience in the data networking and telecommunications fields is required.
* Extensive knowledge of Optical Networking Systems and Software. * Proven
skills as a strong motivator and team builder. * Proven track record of on time
execution and delivery of successful products to the marketplace. * A track
record of building and growing productive technical teams. * A dynamic personality
with superb verbal, written and presentation skills. * Good marketing
knowledge and customer relationship building skills. * Experience interfacing
with large carriers desirable. * The ability to effectively manage multiple
project teams, and provide vision and leadership to a large organization. *
Management experience with multi-site development. * A BSEE and/or MSEE Degree;
