International Microcomputer Software, Inc. San Rafael, CA 1993 - curre
Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, I supervise the design, print
production, and lettershop of monthly mailings promoting 8 different
PC & Mac software products. Including the international and test kit ve
total is 15 to 20 mail drops every 30 days. Print production averages 7
million pieces monthly with 60 to 150 pieces of new 4-color created ever
month using a staff of one production artist. During the first 6 months
IMSI, I cut print costs $20,000 per month and replaced the design servic
of Bill Mirbach to save an additional $10,000 per month. Originally I
purchased the name lists until a statistical analyst was hired to fulfil
this task. Duties include purchasing, inventory management and lettersh
supervision for the insertion of six-into-one kits. I grew the monthly
volume from 600,000 to over 1.2M, installed a new digital pre-press
department, and expanded mailings into Germany, France, Belgium, Sweden,
and Australia on a budget of $250,000 per month.
MARKETING COMMUNICATION MANAGER
SourceMate Information Systems, Mill Valley, CA 1990 - 1992
Reporting to President of software publishing firm, installed a new
department with responsibility for the design, production, and distribut
of all advertising, product packaging, marketing collateral, and direct
mail. Reduced costs to 33% of previous year's budget while delivering
twice the volume and upgrading collateral to full color. Cut the cost o
product packaging by 63%. Designed new identity campaigns for both
corporate ID and for product-line marketing. Developed new promotion
campaign, coordinating trade show exhibits, sales training, marketing
brochures, and national ads to establish competitive presence in a highl
saturated market. Designed and implemented VAR recruitment and training
Laid off when entire marketing department was liquidated as cost-cutting
response to recession. $280,000 department budget.

Installed and managed full-service department with responsibility for al
advertising, public relations, collateral, technical training, and
documentation. Staff included two writers. Supervised design and
procurement of both a video production studio and a PC network for
marketing. $260,000 annual budget. Position eliminated due to recessio
in semiconductor industry.
VIDEO DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR
Varian Associates, Palo Alto, CA 1980 - 1984
Responsible for selection, procurement, and installation of a corporate
media center in the Semiconductor Equipment Division. Supervised media
department as a revenue center earning over $80,000/year from the sale o
training tapes. Staff included one writer/director and one university
intern plus a dozen outside contractors. Responsible for department
budgeting, project scheduling, and instructional design, plus the
production of new-product introductions for marketing state-of-the-art I
fabrication equipment. I resigned to take the General Signal position.
