It has generally been very good, but there was a several week period of
high packet loss and latency some time back. I'd say it's good value for
the money ($10/month).

I'm the guy who started the thread about how reliable is an Alcatel
1000 ANT, since I would be deploying it in the crawl space under my
house. The response has convinced me to consider (1) other options,
or (2) putting the ' 1000 in a closet, or (3) doing something else for
now.

One option would be to switch my ISDN service to PacBell. It would
use my existing equipment and be a LOT, LOT cheaper than my current
ISP. I'm almost embarassed to say how much cheaper, but there are no
per hour charges.

A lot of what my wife and son do is basic web surfing, rather than
email or news. I'm actually the only news junkie in the family.

So, I know about PBI news outages. How about the basic service? Is
basic connectivity reliable?

The service is good. Watch out if you intend to use their personal home
pages. I haven't been able to get a clean ftp upload for serveral weeks now.
I keep getting shuttled from one tech support person to another and as yet
no admission that they have a problem.
