I have SBC Yahoo DSL with a Speedstream 5100 (with 5 lights). How do
I access it's settings menu. I tried the 192.168.0.1 address in my
web browser and got nothing. Is there something I'm going wrong? The
modem does indeed have a sticker on it that has the "192.168.0.1"
address on it. Thanks!

I believe I recently saw something saying you have to set your
own IP to be on the 192.168.0.x network, either explicitly or by using
the router's own dhcp function.

yes, you certainly would have to be on the same subnet, or there would be
no way for your packets to get to it, or visa versa..

@posting.google.com:

No, you don't want the PPPoE connection. Go here:

http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10096

and then click on the 5100b GUI Simulation link:

http://forums.ricknmiasworld.net/5100b/

This will get you to the Speedstream 5100b GUI simulation. Click on
Advanced, PPP Location, and this screen will explain more about
when/where to use/set up the PPPoE.

Delete your XP PPPoE connection entirely, or just don't allow it to
establish itself. When you launch IE, just on Stop, and then enter
http://192.168.0.1

BTW, the Speedstream simulation goes right to "You Are Connected", which
won't happen for you in real life the first time you set up your modem.
After entering your id and pw, you'll get "Access Code Required". At
this point, enter the 10-digit number on the yellow sticker on the
underdise of the modem.

That should do it, if your set up date has arrived.

What is your set up date, and have you registered your account
