eBay created a new market: 1-to-1 trading in an auction format on the
Web, and now leads this market sector. Steve Westly, VP of Marketing
and Business Development, will describe eBay's positioning strategy.
eBay started on Labor Day, 1995, and now has 130 employees, 15.4
million shares, and a market value of about $2.5 billion. Steve joined
in 1997, and has been responsible for negotiating deals with more than
60 companies, including AOL, Yahoo!, Excite, Netscape, and USA Today.
